What happened to CORE tokens?

CORE rebounded slightly after hitting a historical low

On July 28, 2026, Coredao_Org's native token $CORE fell to US$0.01678, setting a record low. Since then, the token has rebounded slightly, and the 24-hour trading volume has increased simultaneously, with an increase of about 7%, but it is still in a deep downturn compared to its historical high.

From a long-term decline perspective, the current price of the token has dropped by more than 99.5% from the all-time high of US$6.47 set in February 2023. This round of selling was also compounded by multiple forced closing events. At the beginning of 2026, a wave of large-scale market sell orders triggered a clearing chain reaction on Colend, which caused significant downward pressure on CORE prices. CoreDAO itself reported that the incident was mainly market-driven rather than a technical failure.

Building an ecosystem in a downturn: SatPay and the 2026 roadmap

Despite weak prices, the @Coredao_Org team continues to advance ecosystem construction. The core direction is Bitcoin DeFi (or BTCFi), which positions SatPay as the flagship consumer-grade product in this space. Every deposit, LST casting, loan, repayment and revenue strategy implemented through SatPay strengthens the demand for CORE, making it a consumer-level portal that drives the pressure of CORE use, pledge, Gas consumption and regular repurchase.

SatPay is a Bitcoin digital bank built on CoreDAO. Its website was revised and opened for initial invitations in early February 2026, and then launched an early beta version to some users in March 2026. CoreDAO is an EVM-compatible Layer 1 blockchain that aims to combine Bitcoin's security with scalable smart contract capabilities. It uses Satoshi Plus consensus mechanism to combine Bitcoin's proof-of-work security with delegated proof-of-stake to achieve faster transaction processing.

At a broader strategic level, the core pillar of the Core 2026 plan is to shift from an inflation-driven token issuance model to a sustainable income model, using revenue generated by Bitcoin activities in the BTCFi ecosystem (including pledge proceeds, liquidity pledge tokens, and SatPay) to systematically repurchase CORE tokens. This represents a strategic shift-using ecological revenue for systematic CORE token buybacks rather than relying on inflation incentives.

Whether this model can translate into a meaningful token price recovery remains an open question. At present, the reason why $CORE attracts attention is mainly because of its astonishing decline, rather than the emergence of new momentum. Traders and ecological observers will be watching closely for SatPay adoption and whether repurchase programs can begin to change this narrative.
