Flare Networks plans to extend FAssets technology to Bitcoin through FBTC, promoting decentralized financial applications beyond the XRP ecosystem.
Flare Networks CEO Hugo Philion revealed that it plans to extend FAssets technology in the network to Bitcoin, which marks an important step for the project beyond the growing XRP ecosystem. According to Philon, the plan will introduce encapsulated bitcoin through the FBTC token, while positioning Flare as a programmable layer for one of the world's largest digital assets.
This strategy is based on Flare's efforts to unlock decentralized financial opportunities for assets that have traditionally operated in non-programmable blockchain environments. Philion shared the update while discussing Flare's long-term development strategy rather than focusing on short-term market performance. He acknowledged that the market environment is soft, but stressed that the company's roadmap remains centered on expanding infrastructure that can attract institutional participation. According to Philion, Flare intends to apply the same framework that underpins FXRP to Bitcoin, giving holders access to decentralized financial services without having to sell Bitcoin.
Privacy Technology Helps Flare's Corporate Strategy
Flare believes confidential computing will play a central role in attracting institutional capital into decentralized finance. As a result, the company plans to integrate Flare Confidential Computing (FCC) into its Bitcoin strategy through FBTC tokens. The FCC relies on a trusted execution environment to protect sensitive transaction data while maintaining blockchain security and verification capabilities. According to Philion, blockchain transparency remains one of the biggest obstacles preventing large financial institutions from participating in decentralized finance. As a result, Flare wants to combine secure on-chain settlement with privacy features that protect commercial transaction strategies.
In addition, Philion emphasized that infrastructure deployment will remain a priority for the company, adding that despite difficult market conditions, Flare is well-funded and will not promise immediate price gains from the plan.
XRP roadmap lays foundation for Bitcoin integration
This Bitcoin expansion follows Flare's recent six-month roadmap for the XRP Ledger ecosystem. According to Philion, the FAssets framework already allows users to convert XRP one-on-one to FXRP while simultaneously obtaining collateral, lending and liquidity services. In addition, FXRP issuance has exceeded 150 million tokens, and Flare hopes to attract as many as 5 billion XRPs, accounting for approximately 5% of the asset's total supply. In addition to enhancing the practicality of XRP, the company plans to replicate the same model for Bitcoin through FBTC. However, Philion explained that institutional adoption requires extensive bridging audits to allow large amounts of capital to enter the ecosystem. In addition, lending agreements require deeper liquidity from stablecoins such as USDT and USDC. Even so, cross-chain activity has kept Flare's total lock-in value above $200 million, while supporting FIRE, the network's value-accumulation mechanism that uses agreement revenue to automatically repurchase and destroy FLR tokens.
Conclusion
Flare's latest roadmap extends its decentralized financial ambitions beyond XRP by bringing FAssets technology to Bitcoin through FBTC. The company prioritizes infrastructure development, institutional readiness, and privacy protection functions when expanding programmable finance for leading blockchain networks.
