Solana's start in August attracted market attention, and SOL price trends became the focus.
At the beginning of August, Solana's trend made traders keep a close eye on market trends. This is because SOL prices have not been able to increase for ten consecutive months, falling all the way from a high of nearly US$296 in early 2025 to the current US$73. What is even more intriguing is that even though the chart performance is weak, institutional funds continue to pour in. The cumulative net inflow of the spot Solana ETF was approximately US$1.45 billion, while Morgan Stanley's new MSOL ETF attracted US$19.06 million in inflows on its first trading day. Coupled with the Alpenglow upgrade, which is expected to be phased in between August and October, it is not difficult to understand why traders are paying so close attention to possible trend shifts in August.
Solana Recent Price Trend
When we analyzed the SOL chart provided by Wise Advice, we noticed a significant drop in the price of the token. At the beginning of 2025, SOL hit a high of $295.90, and then fell to $73.19, down 75% from the high shown in the chart. However, Solana's current price is still well above the cyclical low of $12.67. The short-term structure is also not optimistic. Solana is currently trading around $73.30, about 7% below its 100-day moving average (approximately $78.70). The downtrend line extending from the 2025 high is converging in the $78 -80 region, forming a clear resistance area above. The critical technical game is unfolding at this time. Support is in the $70 -72 region, with stronger support around $65 -68, which is where Solana rebounded in June. Kinetic energy remains weak, with the daily RSI at around 42.98, below the neutral level of 50. To fundamentally improve the chart shape, SOL prices need to close decisively above $78 -80, which will bring the $90 -95 area back into view. Until then, the overall trend will remain sideways and weak.
Solana-related developments in August that may affect SOL prices
August is not just about chart movements. Solana has several catalysts coming soon. The most noteworthy protocol upgrade is the Alpenglow upgrade planned to be phased in from August to October 2026. The upgrade aims to shorten the final confirmation time for transactions to 150 milliseconds, a huge improvement compared to the current confirmation speed of 12 seconds. Institutional needs are another important factor. BSCN News reported that since its launch, the cumulative net inflow of spot Solana ETF has been approximately US$1.45 billion, of which about half comes from institutional 13F filers. Morgan Stanley's new Solana ETF has led the game. One day after listing on the New York Stock Exchange in Arca, Morgan Stanley's MSOL had a net inflow of US$19.06 million on the first trading day, accounting for the entire net inflow of the U.S. spot Solana ETF that day, and no other issuers changed. In addition, Solana is also further expanding the payment field. South Korean payment gateway provider KSNET, which has approximately 330,000 merchants and processes nearly 130 million transactions per month, has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Solana Foundation to implement Solana Pay on its platform.
Solana August Price Forecast
For August, I have three realistic scenarios for SOL prices. In a pessimistic scenario, the US$70 support level falls and the market will retest the US$65 -68 region. If that area also breaks, traders may start focusing on $60. Under the benchmark scenario, Solana prices will remain volatile in the $70 -80 range as traders await clearer signals from ETF flows and Alpenglow upgrades. In an optimistic scenario, buyers recovered the $80 mark, opening up room for a rise to $85 -90 by the end of August. My personal views are close to the market consensus. ETF and payment-related news has improved medium-term fundamentals, but I wouldn't expect much from a strong rebound in August until the chart confirms a breakthrough of $80.
