Mastercard and Borderless launch stablecoin identity verification pilot based on cryptographic certi

Payment processor MasterCard and stablecoin orchestration network Borderless are jointly launching a pilot project to test whether MasterCard's "cryptographic certificate" framework can bring greater trust to cross-border stablecoin transfers and reduce compliance friction.

The two companies announced the plan in a joint statement. The pilot will explore how MasterCard's standards-based framework generates assurance signals that allow financial participants to directly incorporate these signals into their approval, compliance and risk processes.
