Today's decisive day: Trump reviews the CLARITY bill, XRP ushers in a major regulatory breakthrough
Today is the last legislative day before the Senate's summer recess, and the fate of the CLARITY bill has entered a critical stage. More importantly, this landmark crypto market regulation bill has entered the final sprint stage. Senator Cynthia Loomis revealed that President Donald Trump is personally reviewing the latest ethics provisions as lawmakers race against time to complete legislation.
Speaking on Fox Business Channel, Loomis said negotiations with Democrats are still active and revealed that she was amending the bill's provisions on the Commodity Futures Trading Commission the night before. She added that while seeking a compromise, lawmakers had included more than 300 pages of new revisions in an effort to gain enough support votes to pass the bill.
Loomis also praised Trump, saying he has shown unprecedented commitment to strengthening government moral standards. She believes Congress now faces a rare opportunity to provide the crypto industry with the regulatory certainty it has been seeking for years. "Let's pass the CLARITY Act and establish a clear regulatory framework to keep this industry in the United States," she said.
However, time is running out. Because the Senate has not yet scheduled a vote, the bill risks being postponed until after members recess. Loomis insisted that the bill deserves a yes or no vote. She believes that if the bill stagnates, it will be because opponents are preventing the Senate from making a final decision.
Importance of the CLARITY Act to XRP
For XRP supporters, the CLARITY Act may represent one of the most influential regulatory developments in years. The bill aims to establish a clear legal framework that defines when digital assets fall under the jurisdiction of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission or the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. This long-standing ambiguity has been a heavy burden on the crypto industry and a core factor in Ripple's legal dispute with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
A clear regulatory framework could remove many of the uncertainties surrounding XRP and allow exchanges, banks, payment service providers and institutional investors to build greater confidence in the asset. As Ripple increases its investment in tokenized real-world assets, RLUSD, decentralized finance and corporate cross-border payments, it may also accelerate the adoption of XRP ledgers.
Supporters of the bill believe its impact goes far beyond XRP. By establishing clear rules for digital assets, the CLARITY Act could encourage blockchain companies to build and innovate in the U.S. rather than relocate to jurisdictions with a more predictable regulatory environment.
Whether the Senate can pass the bill before recess remains to be seen. But Trump's direct review of the latest proposal and intensive bipartisan negotiation efforts have highlighted the bill's importance. For XRP investors, passage of the bill could mark a major turning point in regulatory certainty, institutional adoption, and the long-term development of the U.S. digital asset market.
