TLDR
On August 6, Ripple Company minted 811,026 RLUSDs on the XRP ledger. The deal uses a three-signature setting and costs only 0.000405 XRP. Today, RLUSD accounts for more than half of the total supply of XRPL stablecoins. Since its launch, the cumulative trading volume of RLUSD has exceeded US$2.5 billion. Ripple Company has not provided a public explanation for this new casting behavior.
Ripple minted 811,026 RLUSD on the XRP ledger
On August 6, Ripple Company minted 811,026 RLUSD on the XRP ledger. These new tokens increase the company's total supply of dollar-linked stablecoins.
XRPScan data confirms that the transaction was completed under ledger number 106,109,031. The casting record was recorded within the same day. XRPScan records show that the confirmation time is 7:37 IST time. The entire amount reaches the target account listed in the browser.
Ripple minted these new tokens from its official RLUSD issuance account. During the transfer process, no amount was withheld or redirected.
How the casting process is completed
This transaction uses a three-signature setting to approve new tokens. This multi-signature process is common for stablecoin issuers that handle large mints. The cost of processing this transaction is very low, according to ledger records, only 0.000405 XRP. The target account received a full amount of 811,026 RLUSDs without any reduction. XRPScan listed the payment as a success status.
Ripple has not explained why it issued the tokens. Companies that issue stablecoins often mink new coins to meet the needs of traders or support liquidity on exchanges. New tokens may also be used to support institutional settlement or financial needs, and may also be used to process requests related to customer issuance.
RLUSD's growing role on XRPL
Prior to this casting, RLUSD had experienced several months of growth on the XRP ledger. In July, the token accounted for more than 50% of the total stablecoin supply on XRPL. This milestone makes RLUSD the most widely available stablecoin on the network, surpassing other dollar-linked tokens used on XRPL.
Trading activity related to RLUSD has also increased as its supply grows. The report shows that since the launch of the token, the cumulative transaction volume has exceeded US$2.5 billion. The increase in RLUSD supply is part of a broader growth in stablecoin activity across the cryptocurrency industry. Other dollar-pegged tokens, such as USDT and USDC, run on many blockchain networks.
These tokens are commonly used for trading liquidity, payments, and other blockchain financial activities. A larger supply does not guarantee that stablecoins will continue to grow. Stable currencies compete on factors such as liquidity, exchange support and regulatory status. The extent to which traders and platforms use them also affects their success.
For XRPL, the growth of RLUSD has changed the network's stablecoin landscape. After months of steady growth, August's casting further boosted the growth. Future demand for RLUSD will depend on its adoption by users, exchanges and applications. As the year goes on, continued integration on the XRP ledger will also have an impact on the final result.
