Standard Chartered Bank first commented on Chainlink, giving a target price of US$200 at the end of 2030.

Standard Chartered Bank covered Chainlink (LINK) for the first time on Monday and gave a forecast of a target price of US$200 at the end of 2030, which is about 24 times the current price level.

Highlights

Standard Chartered Bank covered Chainlink for the first time, setting a target price of US$200 by the end of 2030. The bank expects that by the end of 2028, the scale of tokenized assets on the chain will reach US$4 trillion. LINK traded at about $8.22 on Monday, close to the reference price used in the research report.

Chainlink's target price is based on tokenization mathematics

This forecast comes from a report titled "Chainlink: Taking Control of the Track" written by Geoff Kendrick, global head of digital asset research at the bank. The report released Monday details the target price and the logic behind it. The bank described a phased price path: reaching $13 at the end of this year, then rising to $41,$82, and $133, and finally reaching the target price.

Kendrick expects that tokenized assets on the chain will climb from the current approximately US$340 billion to US$4 trillion by the end of 2028, a 12-fold increase from current levels. He also predicts that by 2030,$2.7 trillion in assets will be actively operating in decentralized finance (DeFi), a 37-fold increase from current levels and providing the foundation for every DeFi goal the bank has released this year.

Chainlink charges fees for providing data and transferring assets across chains, so the bank assumes that its fee revenue will grow approximately 25 times during this period. In this model, the token price changes with the cost. The same report maintained forecasts for $500,000 for Bitcoin (BTC) and $40,000 for Ethereum (ETH).

Kendrick mentions that Chainlink's oracle dominance

existing advantages play an important role in this argument. The report pointed out that Chainlink accounts for nearly 70% of the value of global reliance on oracle, and more than 80% on Ethereum, and noted that Fidelity is already using the network to tokenize fund data. Earlier this year, the total value of the network's protection exceeded $110 billion, including cross-chain token transfers and price data used to evaluate collateral in the decentralized lending market.

Kendrick believes Chainlink has facilitated more than US$32 trillion in transaction value over the past seven years, noting that institutions such as Swift, JPMorgan Chase, MasterCard and UBS are using its services. Compared with crypto-native assets, tokenized funds and bonds have a more urgent need for data.

Aave and Morpho's predictions have laid the model

Forecasts for Chainlink continue the pace of the bank's series of long-term DeFi first coverages, all based on the same assumption: how much value will ultimately shift to the chain. Kendrick set a target price of $3500 for Aave (AAVE) in June,$60 for Morpho (MORPHO) in July, and $100 for Uniswap (UNI), all pegged to the same growth curve.

These previous forecasts have driven price movements at least briefly. Morpho rose more than 10% on the day of its report, and Aave also rose after its report was released. LINK was relatively calm, holding around $8.22 on Monday. Kendrick pointed to slowing institutional tokenization, competition from professional service providers and technical glitches as the most obvious threats on the path to achieving the $200 goal.
