CME Group has added three regional reference exchange rates for ENA tokens
According to news, CME Group has added three regional US dollar reference exchange rates and real-time indices for Erena's ENA tokens, which will be released daily starting from August 24.
New benchmark interest rates
This series of benchmarks includes the following three types: CME CF Ethena-US dollar reference exchange rate (London closing price) released with the identifier ENARR; ENARD NY provides the New York closing price; and ENARD AP covers the closing session of the Asia-Pacific trading day. Each reference exchange rate is released at 4 p.m. local time, allowing companies to choose a valuation time point that matches their working day. The release cycle is seven days a week, including weekends and public holidays, which reflects ENA's continued trading even when traditional markets are closed.
Who will calculate
CF Benchmarks, the governing body responsible for managing the CME cryptocurrency index, will be responsible for calculating and releasing these products. Instead of obtaining ENA prices from a single platform, the agency obtains trading data from alternative spot exchanges that comply with its constituent exchange rules, thereby reducing its reliance on a single order book. Reference exchange rates provide a fixed price for portfolio valuations and net asset value calculations, while real-time indices track token prices during trading days for collateral monitoring and risk control.
What does not include
The announcement adds pricing tools, but are not tradeable contracts. CME does not launch ENA futures, options or exchange-traded funds, and any listed product needs to meet its own terms and regulatory requirements. This time, Ethena's governance tokens will be added to CME's benchmark series, which previously covered Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, XRP, Cardano, Chainlink, Stellar, Avalanche and Sui. Previously, CME launched Nasdaq CME cryptocurrency index futures in June and Avalanche and Sui standard and micro futures in May.
For U.S. companies, the New York version provides ENA prices at 4 p.m. local time, bringing the benchmark in line with the U.S. stock market close. CF Benchmarks has long been responsible for managing the exchange rates of CME cryptocurrency products and added Crypto.com as a constituent exchange for Bitcoin and Ethereum indices in March 2025.
This move follows ENA's sharp rise this year.
