AI video startup PixVerse received US$439 million in financing, with a valuation exceeding US$2 billion. World model ambitions are gradually emerging.
PixVerse, a video generation startup based in Singapore, has completed a new round of Series C expansion financing. The total amount of this round has reached US$439 million, and the company's valuation has exceeded the US$2 billion mark. This marks one of the largest financings in AI video generation this year, highlighting investors 'strong interest in start-ups that can provide high-quality video synthesis and world modeling capabilities.
Financing details and investor confidence
PixVerse initially completed its Series C financing in March this year, led by CDH Investment. According to Bloomberg News, the financing amount at that time was approximately US$300 million. The expanded financing attracted a group of well-known investors, including Alibaba, Lollapalooza Capital, Ivy Capital, Grand Mount Capital, Dongpeng Capital, Future Assets, Blue Cursor and CloudAlpha. Existing investors iGlobe Partners and OCBC's LionX Ventures also participated in the round of financing.
The company was founded in 2023 by Wang Changhu and Jaden Xie, who have deep backgrounds in computer vision and investment. Wang Changhu was previously responsible for visual understanding technology at ByteDance, and Xie served as executive director of Lighthouse Capital.
Product Matrix and Market Position
PixVerse offers multiple models for different market segments: the V-series for consumer and API use, the C-series for professional film and business workflows, and the R-series world model released earlier this year for game development and world building. The platform supports video generation up to 4K resolutions and integrates audio functions.
The company said its consumer products have more than 150 million registered users and more than 15 million monthly active users. Although it did not disclose the exact number of paying users, the company offers competitive pricing for its image-to-video generation business, which costs $4.80 per minute. The company believes that only a few companies on the market have made substantial progress, and points out that OpenAI has withdrawn from the field after closing Sora 2, while large technology companies such as Meta and Tencent have made slow progress in high-quality video models.
Data annotation becomes core competitiveness
Xie told the media that PixVerse's core advantage lies not in the amount of data, but in data annotation. "We think the key difference is not the data itself, but how to label the data, because data can be seen everywhere." He attributes this advantage to the co-founder's experience in ByteDance, whose team has created the core visual understanding technology behind TikTok, resulting in accurate data annotations and powerful recommendation algorithms. Xie explained that these experiences directly translate into the ability to build video generation platforms.
Expansion Plan and Competitive Landscape
PixVerse plans to expand its corporate business globally this year. It has reached a deal with investor Alibaba to deploy video generation capabilities. In terms of products, the company plans to launch new V-series models and release an updated version of the World Model. The company has offices in Singapore, Beijing and Shanghai and currently has 150 employees. The new funds will be used to recruit researchers and marketing positions.
The competitive landscape remains fierce. Asian competitors include ByteDance's Seedance model, former Tencent AI head Dr. Liu Wei's Video Rebirth, and Kling AI. Western competitors include Midjourney, Runway and Luma. In addition, a number of startups led by well-known AI figures such as Yang Likun and Li Feifei are also building world models.
Why it's worth paying attention to
In a crowded market, PixVerse was able to raise large amounts of money, indicating that investors see the differentiated advantages of its annotation technology and multi-model approach. The company's focus on both consumer and enterprise application scenarios, coupled with its world-model ambitions, makes it an important player in the next generation AI-generated video and interactive environment competition. This development shows that the pace of investment in generative AI tools is accelerating, which promise to reshape the fields of content creation, marketing and game development.
