Cryptocurrency exchange Crypto.com received US$400 million in investment, valued at US$20 billion.
Cryptocurrency exchange Crypto.com announced on Thursday that it has received US$400 million in investment from global market maker Citadel Securities, valuing the company at US$20 billion. The investment comes at a time of growing institutional demand for tokenized real-world assets, including stablecoins and tokenized stocks. Cryptocurrency exchanges are increasingly positioned as bridges between digital asset markets and traditional finance.
Crypto.com said in a statement released Thursday that the funding is expected to support its expansion in "all asset classes," including tokenized securities and derivatives. Kris Marszalek, co-founder and CEO of Crypto.com, said: "We are excited to partner with Citadel Securities to continue to push the cryptocurrency industry into a new era of institutionalization. The scale of the opportunities before us is staggering, and cryptocurrencies are increasingly becoming the trajectory of finance."
Jim Esposito, President of Citadel Securities, said: "The integration of traditional financial markets and digital asset infrastructure is an exciting evolution that is expected to further improve market efficiency."
