BitMart announces the phasing out of its trading platform
BitMart has announced that it will phase out its trading business after nearly nine years of operation. The platform will immediately stop registering new users. All spot and futures trading will end on August 26, 2026, and platform operations will be completely suspended on January 31, 2027.
Official explanation on the gradual shutdown
On July 26, 2026, BitMart stated in an official announcement that after evaluating its operating conditions, market environment and future strategic directions, it decided to shut down its trading platform in an orderly manner. The shutdown takes a phased approach rather than taking effect immediately. Starting from 01:30 (UTC) on July 26, 2026, the platform has stopped new user registration, recharge, new spot orders and opening positions in new futures, and has changed futures accounts to lightening-only mode, allowing traders to close positions but cannot open positions.
According to the announcement, all spot, futures and other trading services will be completely terminated at 01:00 (UTC) on August 26, 2026. BitMart plans to officially cease trading platform operations at 15:59 (UTC) on January 31, 2027.
Platform token prices fluctuate violently
The token BMX associated with the exchange reacted violently. Within 24 hours, the price of BMX fell by approximately 59.37% to approximately US$0.06647, and the market value shrank to approximately US$22.56 million.

Impact on users
For active traders, the most direct impact is that they can no longer open new positions. Users have about one month to close existing positions before all trading stops on August 26.
The platform can still carry out withdrawal operations, and users have about six months to transfer assets out. BitMart recommends that users submit withdrawal requests before August 26, 2026, 05:00 (UTC). The platform also reminds that withdrawal requests may face additional identity verification, device verification and collection address verification, as well as funding source review, travel rule compliance inspection and sanctions screening, which may lead to processing delays. This shows that the shutdown was carried out under an enhanced compliance framework rather than a simple self-service exit.
The price trend of BMX highlights the risks of holding exchange-native tokens during the platform shutdown. After the announcement, BMX was trading at approximately US$0.06647, reflecting thin liquidity, with 24-hour trading volume of approximately US$4.03 million.

Subsequent nodes of the shutdown process
The next key node that traders need to pay attention to is August 26, when transactions will be completely stopped, the recommended withdrawal window will also be closed, and the platform will finally cease operations at the end of January 2027.
BitMart did not disclose specific legal, financial or operational triggers for the decision, only mentioning operating conditions, market environment and future strategic direction, which triggered speculation about whether regulatory or solvency pressures played a role.
The shutdown occurred against the backdrop of cautious market sentiment, with the cryptocurrency Fear and Greed Index reading of 26, in the "fear" range. This incident has intensified the trend of integration among exchanges, in sharp contrast to the fact that some emerging trading platforms are still actively launching new projects.
