Zimbabwe's securities regulator has approved seven fintech projects to enter its regulatory sandbox, with tokenization projects accounting for the majority of the latest batch. The Zimbabwe Stock Exchange Commission (SECZ) has announced a list of approved participants, including: Zimbabwe Entrepreneurship Exchange, Ndarama Standard, Questview Brokers, Crowdaxe Capital, Procode Platforms, Financial Securities Exchange (FINSEC) and Colmin Resources Zimbabwe.
These projects cover blockchain-based capital raising, crowdfunding, synthetic transactions, and tokenization of assets, securities and infrastructure, with four of the seven projects directly focusing on tokenization. According to SECZ's Regulatory Sandbox Guidelines, items approved to enter the sandbox can undergo controlled testing under regulatory supervision, but even if the test is successfully completed, there is no guarantee of full registration. Participants must still meet regulatory registration requirements before starting commercial operations.
These tokenization projects reflect a growing willingness to broaden access to capital markets through blockchain-based tools and include assets that may otherwise be difficult to trade into regulated investment structures.
