Strategy, led by Michael Siler, has not traded bitcoin for the fifth consecutive week
Strategy (Nasdaq: MSTR), led by Michael Siler, formerly known as MicroStrategy, disclosed in an 8-K filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on July 27 that the company has not traded any bitcoin (BTC) for the fifth consecutive week.
Strategy holds 843,775 bitcoins on its balance sheet and remains the world's largest bitcoin reserve company. Although the company holds more than 4% of its 21 million Bitcoin supply limit, these assets are currently in a floating deficit of billions of dollars.
Between July 20 and 26, Strategy also sold MSTR shares for $544.5 million, bought back SRTC shares for $25 million, and increased its U.S. dollar reserves by $525 million to $3.75 billion.
As the company prepared to release its second-quarter 2026 earnings report on July 30, a director sold MSTR common stock on July 22.
Strategy director Jarrod Pattern sells MSTR shares again
Jarrod Patten, a member of Strategy's board of directors since 2004, sold 1250 shares of MSTR shares on July 22, worth $125,000, disclosed in his Form 4 filing with the SEC.
On the same day, he obtained 1250 shares of MSTR shares by exercising directors 'stock options. After these transactions, he currently holds 28,406 shares.
The Strategy director often sells MSTR shares from time to time. His last sale was on June 23, when he sold 1500 shares of MSTR stock for $159.12 million after getting the same number of shares at $18.236 per share.
Insider stock sales are standard market behavior, in which company executives or major shareholders legally sell their company's shares on the open market. The SEC requires such sales to be reported to securities regulators, including details such as the price of the stock sold, the number of shares sold and the date of sale.
Such a sale should not be interpreted as a signal that senior leaders lack confidence in the company's prospects. Executives sell stocks for a variety of purposes, such as portfolio diversification, tax planning, etc.
As of press time, MSTR shares were trading at US$96.26, down about 2.50% on the day.
