Altura claims that bank account freezing delayed the treasury closure process

Altura announced that its stablecoin vault's final round of payments was temporarily restricted by banks.

The Decentralized Financial Income Agreement Altura said that the cash accounts used for its stablecoin vault's final round of payments have been temporarily restricted by banks. "This situation is completely beyond our control and we cannot take further action until we receive the latest news from the bank," the agreement wrote in a statement. This confirms that the restriction is slowing the treasury clearing process that began in June.

What happened to Altura?

Before the account was frozen, Altura had completed the final preparation work-to exchange the withdrawn cash into USDT through over-the-counter transactions and then distribute it to users. In a post to followers, the team stated that the funds were deposited in Altura's bank account and were about to be transferred to the accounts of its OTC trading partners, but the account was "temporarily restricted."

Currently, more than £ 16.4 million of funds are locked in the account, and the bank is conducting internal review of screenshots shared on the X platform based on the agreement. Altura said it had contacted the bank, which asked it to wait for the review to be completed.

Months of liquidation process before the freeze

The restriction on bank accounts under the agreement occurred at the end of the entire liquidation process-a process that slowly progressed throughout the summer. Altura decided in June to close its treasury and gradually redeem users 'funds as underlying positions settled.

The team reported on July 15 that $14.97 million had been recovered and $6.95 million remained unrecovered. About a week later, they said there was still $1 million to be cleared in the treasury strategy and was expected to be completed soon.

By July 23, CEO Ranveer Arora told users that the agreement had fully recovered funds from real-world asset partners, and over-the-counter conversion was the next and final step. Earlier, on June 25, Altura said that funds deposited in its bank account were transferred through JPMorgan Chase and added a "Proof of Reserves" tab to its application, allowing users to track every transfer.

What triggered the liquidation?

The decision to close the treasury stems from a wave of redemptions. After Altura processed instant withdrawals of more than 8.5 million USDT in a 24-hour period in June, Arora announced that the vault would be cleared in an orderly manner. He attributed the move to "continued withdrawal demand and current market sentiment."

At the same time, problems have arisen in other areas of the income-based stablecoin market. Main Street's msUSD was unpegged from the U.S. dollar after the proof-of-solvency provider withdrew, and the pressure spread to agreements with large withdrawals like Altura. Altura said it has never held any exposure related to Main Street or its strategies, and its HyperEVM lending vault, associated USDT/AVLT markets and borrowers were not affected. Arora also refuted what he called misinformation and speculation, saying unfounded rumors exacerbated the panic driving redemptions.

Data behind Altura's vault

Altura's vault is built around stablecoin gains on HyperEVM, a network associated with Ethereum. At the time of the redemption wave, DefiLlama traced the agreement's total locked value on Hyperliquid L1 to approximately US$32.36 million, involving an income pool with an average annualized yield of nearly 17.49%. The vault had previously peaked at about $39 million.

Altura has not yet committed to a completion date. Because the final purchase operation now depends on bank review rather than settlement schedules, the timeline for the final round of payments will depend on when the account is reopened.
