The Ethereum Foundation appoints the co-founder of SEAL 911 to its board of directors to deepen privacy and security strategy

The Ethereum Foundation (EF) has appointed Pascal Caversaccio (aka "pcaversaccio") to its board of directors. Cabazcio is the co-founder and head of SEAL 911, a cryptographic security Incident Response Service organization. The appointment comes as the organization further focuses on privacy and security.

On Wednesday, the Ethereum Foundation said Cabazio joined voluntarily for an initial one-year term. He will form a four-member board with President Aya Miyaguchi, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin and Swiss legal adviser Patrick Storchenegger.

Cabazcio is a long-time contributor to Ethereum and a member of the foundation Silviculture Society. The Society is an informal advisory group focusing on censorship resistance, open source development, privacy and security issues. He also wrote the "Ethereum Cyberpunk Manifesto" in 2024 and released "Ethereum Privacy: The Path to Self-Sovereignty" in 2025.

The Board of Directors is responsible for setting the foundation's vision and overseeing whether management strategies and decisions are always aligned with the core values. The foundation describes the agency as a "safety committee" charged with protecting its mission and ensuring its compliance operations as a Swiss foundation.

The appointment comes as the foundation is elevating privacy and security to a more central role in its organizational strategy. In June this year, the foundation described the two as "uncompromising protocol guarantees" and said its protocol team would work to transform research results-including first-layer privacy and post-quantum security-into specific changes that safeguard Ethereum's self-sovereignty.
