The launch of tokens on the Korean Exchange drives double-digit gains
On August 4, as South Korea's mainstream exchanges confirmed the launch of new tokens, the prices of two tokens related to the emerging DeFi protocol rose sharply. DeFi App's $HOME token surged 34%, and MetaDAO's $META token rose 24%, bringing its weekly gains to 54% and 56%, respectively.
Upbit will support HOME's trading pairs to South Korean won and USDT, allowing this Base network-based token to enter one of the most liquid retail trading platforms in Asia. Upbit is South Korea's largest cryptocurrency exchange by transaction volume and user size, with more than 180 tokens and more than 300 trading pairs online.
Bithumb will launch META2, a token that represents Solana-based MetaDAO protocol. To avoid confusion with the independently traded Metadium token, the token is traded under the code META2. Previously, MetaDAO has been launched on multiple exchanges one after another. Coinbase will launch MetaDAO and Derive in May 2026 and start trading on May 27.
What are DeFi App and MetaDAO?
DeFi App is a cross-chain DeFi platform that covers the EVM and Solana ecosystems. The platform simplifies the DeFi trading process while keeping assets completely self-managed, enabling instant, gas-free, one-click cross-chain swaps, decentralized derivatives trading and revenue opportunities without bridging or KYC verification. HOME serves as a governance and utility token for the platform, used to pay Gas fees and unlock specific functions.
MetaDAO is a Solana-based governance protocol that uses the Futarchy model to guide decisions by predicting markets rather than traditional voting. MetaDAO released a token holder report for the first quarter of 2026 showing that agreed revenue for the quarter was US$556,000, and the size of the treasury increased by 524% compared with the fourth quarter of 2025 to US$12.24 million.
This launch highlights the continued demand for Korean won liquidity by DeFi native tokens. MetaDAO ranked first in trading volume after its launch on the Korean Exchange. The 24-hour trading volume of Upbit platform META alone reached US$65.84 million, accounting for approximately 12.39% of the exchange's total spot trading volume.
