ADA prices broke through the resistance level of US$0.20, and market sentiment was high.
As of press time, ADA trading prices were US$0.202, up 6.2% within the day and 18.4% weekly. The 24-hour trading volume surged 78% to US$747 million. The token has broken the $0.20 resistance level-a level that suppressed all attempts to rebound this year, and now has a market value of $7.37 billion.
The era of Dijstra officially set sail
This round of rise has a clear catalyst. According to Intersect, the organization responsible for overseeing Cardano's open source development and governance, development work in the Dijstra era has officially started.
This news follows the successful activation of the van Rossem hard fork on July 18. The upgrade advances the blockchain to version 11 and introduces improvements such as Plutus performance optimization, improved ledger consistency, and node security enhancements.
Unlike previous upgrades, the Dijstra era will advance in stages. Features in the plan include nested transactions, Linear Leios and Peras, all of which are part of the broader Ouroboros Leios research program. The Haskell node team plans to deploy nested transactions and Linear Leios to the main network by the end of 2026.
Cardano researcher Dr. Cuadrado clearly explains the difference between the two: van Rossem improves core performance and security, while Dijstra focuses on higher transaction throughput and more complex on-chain applications.
The Dijstra roadmap is also advancing Cardano's on-chain governance model. As the focus shifts from the van Rossem era to the Dijstra era, a new parameter update vote has begun, on-chain voting is underway for Constitutional Council elections, and the Constitutional Amendment Portal has opened alpha testing to the community.
The community treasury financing model makes Cardano one of the few blockchain whose core development is funded directly by token holders through on-chain governance.
IBC Cross-Chain Bridge and Giant Whale Activity Boost Market momentum
Interoperability advances have further added impetus. On August 4, Cardano and Injective activated the first Cross-Chain Communication Protocol (IBC) test network connection, establishing a direct bridge between Cardano and the Cosmos ecosystem, allowing assets such as ADA and INJ to achieve cross-chain transfer without trust for the first time.
Unlike Injective, which natively supports IBC based on the Cosmos SDK, Cardano requires customized infrastructure to achieve compatibility. Developers built dedicated modules to convert between Cardano's extended UTXO accounting model and Impressive's account architecture.
On the demand side, according to Sanitation data, Giant Whale Wallet has increased its holdings of 240 million ADAs in the past few days.
Roadmap announcements do have execution risks, and Cardano's upgrades often trigger initial enthusiasm, and then enter consolidation due to the lengthening of the timeline. Continued price increases may require measurable practical applications-growth in developer activity, new application deployments, and total lockups that are far more important than mere announcements themselves.
