Giorgio Zinetti, chief technology officer of the Cardano Foundation, will step down at the end of August
Giorgio Zinetti will step down as chief technology officer of the Cardano Foundation on August 31, ending his two-and-a-half-year tenure at the nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the Cardano blockchain. Zinetti posted a post on the X platform sharing his plans to leave and personal plans for the future.
Zinetti's departure and leadership transition
Zinetti joined the Cardano Foundation in 2024 as the technical leader and has led a number of large-scale projects aimed at promoting corporate adoption. In a public statement, he reviewed his work experience at the foundation and expressed his gratitude to his colleagues.
After two and a half years, Zinetti will step down as chief technology officer of the Cardano Foundation at the end of August. He said he was proud of the achievements of his team and looked forward to pursuing new career opportunities after welcoming the birth of his daughter.
The Cardano Foundation issued a separate statement on the X platform confirming Zinetti's departure, but did not announce a successor or elaborate on the transition plan for the position of chief technology officer. Leadership said the board and executive team will continue to work closely with senior technology and business development leaders to maintain momentum in corporate adoption.
The foundation stated on the X platform: "Based on the current roadmap, the foundation's board of directors and executive team will continue to work closely with our heads of technology and advanced business development to continue to focus on corporate adoption."
Emurgo withdraws governance after wallet attack
The Cardano Foundation, headquartered in Switzerland, is a non-profit organization responsible for advancing the development of the Cardano blockchain and working with Input Output Global (IOG) and Emurgo. IOG, led by Charles Hoskinson, is Cardano's engineering department, while Emurgo plays the role of the commercial arm.
In July this year, Emurgo revealed that it would withdraw from the Cardano governance team after an attack on its SecondFi wallet resulted in the loss of 2.4 million ADA tokens.
(Note: Emurgo is one of Cardano's founding entities, focusing on driving adoption through commercial projects and strategic partnerships.)
Current status of the Cardano ecosystem

As of the latest market conditions, the ADA trading price of Cardano's native token is US$0.1961, and the network market value remains at US$7.16 billion.
