Token unlocking news this week: Overview of major cryptocurrency releases from August 10 to 16, 2026
There are five token unlocks worth watching this week, ranging from small AI data networks to Arbitrum, one of the largest Layer 2 of Ethereum. Together, these projects will release more than US$460 million in new circulating tokens. The following describes the unlocked content, recipients, and potential impact on each token market.
A list of token unlocking data for this week
On August 10, 2026, Avalanche (AVAX) unlocked 1.67 million pieces, accounting for 0.23% of the largest supply, with a value of approximately US$10.86 million.
On August 11, 2026, Allora (ALLO) unlocked 3.69 million pieces, accounting for 0.37% of the maximum supply and worth approximately US$1.14 million.
On August 14, 2026, Chainbase (C) unlocked 24.78 million pieces, accounting for 2.48% of the largest supply, with a value of approximately US$1.66 million.
On August 14, 2026, Pump.fun (PUMP) unlocked 6.87 billion pieces, accounting for 0.69% of the largest supply and worth approximately US$19.57 million.
On August 16, 2026, Arbitrum (ARB) unlocked 92.63 million pieces, accounting for 0.93% of the largest supply and worth approximately US$7.37 million.
Avalanche (AVAX): Mainstream Layer 1 microfoundations release
Avalanche is a Layer 1 blockchain that uses a unique consensus mechanism to achieve fast, final and low-cost smart contract execution, with transactions completed in less than one second. It is widely used in DeFi applications, subnets (custom blockchains built on Avalanche), and enterprise-level blockchain deployments.
On August 10, the network unlocked 1.67 million AVAXs (worth approximately US$10.86 million), all from foundation allocations, accounting for 2.50% of that particular allocation bucket. Since AVAX has 46.1% of its total foundation allocation unlocked and the network has a large and highly liquid market, this release is a regular small-scale replenishment and will not cause a significant supply impact.
Allora (ALLO): AI coordination tokens are released from two buckets
Allora is a decentralized AI network that coordinates multiple machine learning models rather than relying on a single model and aims to provide more accurate predictive signals to DeFi platforms and AI agents. ALLO is the token that supports the system: workers and reputation persons participate through pledges, developers pay tokens to obtain predictions, and holders use it to vote on network decisions.
On August 11, two allocation buckets were unlocked at the same time: the Foundation released 1.84 million ALLOs (accounting for 1.97% of its allocation), and Ecology and Partners released another 1.84 million ALLOs (accounting for 2.08% of its allocation), totaling 3.69 million, worth approximately US$1.14 million. Given that Allora will only launch its main network at the end of 2025, this is still an early-stage token, and unlocking will have a relatively greater impact on markets with less liquidity.
Chainbase (C): The most scattered unlocking of the week
Chainbase operates the so-called "hyperdata network" that transforms raw, decentralized blockchain activity from more than 80 chains into structured data that is available to AI models and applications. C tokens are used to pay for data access rights, ensure network security through pledge, and make decisions on governance agreements. This is the most decentralized unlock this week, involving four separate allocation buckets: Ecology and community unlocked 9.41 million Cs (2.35% of its allocation, used for community incentives and adoption promotion), early supporters unlocked 7.08 million Cs (4.17% of its allocation, early investors attributed), core contributors unlocked 6.25 million Cs (4.17% of its allocation, founding team and core developers attributed), and worker incentives unlocked 2.03 million Cs (1.70% of its allocation, data node operation rewards). The total of 24.78 million tokens is only US$1.66 million in U.S. dollar terms, but they account for 6.83% of Chainbase's current market value, much higher than other projects this week.
Pump.fun (PUMP): This week's largest release of U.S. dollar value
Pump.fun is a Solana-based launch platform. Anyone can create and trade memes through the binding curve pricing model, making it one of the most commonly used platforms for token creation in cryptocurrencies. On August 14, the same day as Chainbase, Pump.fun unlocked 6.87 billion PUMP tokens for distribution to teams (4.17 billion, or 2.08% of their allocation) and existing investors (2.71 billion, or 2.08% of their allocation). Based on a value of approximately US$19.57 million, this is the largest single unlock amount this week, but it accounts for less than 2% of the total compared to Pump.fun's larger overall market value.
Arbitrum (ARB): This week's largest unlock based on supply
Arbitrum is one of Ethereum's largest Layer 2 expansion networks. It uses optimistic aggregation technology to process transactions cheaply outside the Ethereum main chain, while passing back the main chain to ensure security, and is governed by Arbitrum DAO. On August 16, the last day of the week, Arbitrum unlocked the largest supply of the five tokens: teams and advisers unlocked 56.12 million ARBs (2.08% of their allocation), and investors unlocked 36.51 million ARBs (2.08% of their allocation), totaling 92.63 million ARBs, worth approximately US$7.37 million, accounting for 0.93% of the maximum supply, the highest percentage among this week's group. With more than 50% of ARB's total supply already unlocked, the release is part of a long-term, well-announced ownership plan rather than an accident.
What does unlocking these tokens mean for investors
The maximum supply percentage only explains part of the situation. Although Chainbase's absolute number of tokens unlocked is small, it accounts for 6.83% of its current market value, the highest proportion in this week's group, which means that it puts greater relative pressure on price than mere numbers suggest. Pump.fun has the largest unlocked value in dollar terms (approximately US$19.57 million), but relative to its size, it is still less than 2% of its market value. As the two most mature projects, Arbitrum and Avalanche show the opposite pattern: the dollar amount is substantial, but the percentage impact is much smaller compared to their deep, mature market capitalization and daily trading volume. Newer, smaller market capitalisation projects like Allora and Chainbase have a more pronounced impact on prices when the same proportion of supply enters the market because of thinner liquidity. In addition, four of the five unlocks this week involve team and investor assignments, and such unlocks typically bring greater selling pressure than ecological or community assignments because attributed insiders are statistically more likely to achieve benefits than reward-based recipients.
Summary
This week's token unlocks ranged from Avalanche's tiny 0.23% release to Pump.fun's nearly $20 million event. Looking at the value of the US dollar alone does not reflect the real market impact. Measuring the unlocking scale with the market value and liquidity of each token is clearer than simply focusing on the number of tokens. Those holding these assets should focus directly on the official project channel for any schedule changes, as unlock dates and allocations may be adjusted due to governance decisions.
