Flare's pledge volume exceeded 20 billion FLR, and token economics reform achieved remarkable resul

Since the announcement of FIP.16, the pledge supply has almost doubled

According to Filip Koprivec (@j00sko), chief product officer of Flare Network, the total pledge supply of Flare Network has reached 20 billion $FLR. Since FIP.16 was first announced in March, this number has climbed from approximately 11 billion, and pledged tokens currently account for approximately 23% of the 86.9 billion $FLRs in circulation.

This milestone reflects a significant shift in holder behavior after the Internet's most significant token economy reform to date. FIP.16, titled "Rebuilding the FLR Token Economy for Long-term Network Sustainability", completed the voting on April 24, 2026 and received governance approval. Implementation is carried out in phases, with some parameters taking effect shortly after the vote, while others require hard network forking and coordinated release.

The verifier pledge reward is five times the entrusted reward

The Flare Network will implement the FIP.16 protocol update starting from the reward cycle on July 20. The key change is to realign the reward allocation so that the reward for pledging $FLR on the P chain is five times the reward for entrusting the C chain. This is a fundamental reset designed to encourage users to lock in tokens to ensure network security rather than entrust tokens for liquidity, and directly targets the token economy, aiming to reduce the supply of liquidity and the structural selling pressure caused by delegated rewards.

In addition to pledge weight adjustments, FIP.16 also introduces broader economic changes. The upgrade reduces annual inflation from 5% to 3%, and increases the base Gas fee 20 times to speed up destruction rates, directly linking the value of $FLR to network usage. FIP.16 also introduces a MEV capture mechanism and distributes more network revenue through the FIRE channel.

$FLR is currently trading at approximately US$0.0062, up approximately 5% on the day. By making pledges more attractive, the agreement encourages greater network security and consistency among long-term holders.
