The XRP/BTC trading pair rose, and the trend of XRP attracted attention.
As of August 20, the XRP/BTC trading pair rose 8.71%. This trend of XRP attracted attention. XRP Ledger validator Vet (@Vet_X0) posted the XRP/BTC chart on the X platform and wrote: "Bitcoin is plummeting relative to XRP after institutions develop technical solutions for lending on XRP Ledger." This chart visually shows this trend. From August 15 to August 17, the transaction was consolidated sideways and slightly downward. Subsequently, starting from August 19, the price rose sharply, reaching 0.00001734 BTC. XRP currently trades at $1.26.
High-profile technical solutions
The catalysts referred to by Vet are real and specific. Two amendments are being voted on the XRP Ledger: XLS-65 and XLS-66. The two together constitute the XRPL loan agreement. XLS-65 introduces a single asset vault that pools assets from multiple depositors (such as XRP or RLUSD). XLS-66 uses the liquidity in these vaults to provide fixed-term, fixed-rate loans. The blockchain handles interest accumulation, repayment execution and default processing. Credit decisions remain off-chain and institutions retain full underwriting control.
Enhance the DeFi appeal of XRP
This design is directly targeted at regulated financial institutions and is not a retail DeFi product. Evernorth has announced its intention to make XLS-66 a core part of its digital asset strategy. Current data shows that in terms of validator support, XLS-65 reaches 40%, and XLS-66 exceeds 37%. Activation requires continuous support from more than 80% of trusted verifiers for two consecutive weeks. Developers can already test the protocol on the development website. Verifier voting is underway and support is rising.
XRP's rapid recovery
The amendment narrative collides with two regulatory incidents in the past 48 hours, accelerating the trend of the XRP/BTC trading pair. On August 18, the SEC formally proposed a "crypto-asset regulation" proposal. The move is based on a March 2026 joint SEC/CFTC interpretation that classified XRP as a digital commodity. Regulatory clarity reaches the institutional level. Subsequently, on August 19, Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse attended a White House meeting with President Trump, SEC Chairman Paul Atkins and CFTC Chairman Michael Selig. The agenda revolves around the CLARITY bill, with Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong pointing to September 15 as a key procedural vote date. After this meeting, XRP experienced a significant increase.
Why lending is still the core
Regulatory events have accelerated market sentiment, and lending agreements have provided the basis for that sentiment. Institutions now have a clear on-chain mechanism for making tokenized assets work. This is the structural shift that Vet's post points to. The chart shows the market's reaction to these simultaneous events, with the amendment at the core.
