Aave extends the use of Chainlink CCIP as the default infrastructure for the cross-chain ecosystem

The Aave protocol announced that Chainlink's Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) has been selected to support Aave applications and cross-chain functions of stable vaults. This expansion is based on the previous support for GHO stablecoin transfers and governance messaging.
This update applies a single interoperability layer to token transfers, treasury management and governance execution, replacing the previous model where different tasks relied on different systems.
Previously, CCIP had been responsible for transferring Aave's GHO stablecoins between supported networks and handling cross-chain governance through Aave Delivery Infrastructure (a.DI). With this expansion, the same infrastructure will now also handle deposits, withdrawals, treasury rebalancing, revenue optimization and asset transfers through the Aave app.
Cross-chain operations now run through a unified infrastructure. In the Aave app, Stabilize Vault automatically transfers deposits between Ethereum, Base and Arbitrum to improve user returns. Under the new architecture, CCIP is responsible for performing these back-office transfers, eliminating the need for users to manually bridge assets before transferring funds to the support network.
Aave Labs 'stable vault is an infrastructure product that allows companies to integrate fixed-rate stablecoin gains into their own applications. According to Aave, the same vault technology already supports savings products in Aave's application.
GHO and savings GHO also rely on CCIP through Chainlink's cross-chain token standard. According to Aave, GHO is now available on eight blockchain networks, and CCIP provides the infrastructure for stablecoin transfers between these support networks.
Theprotocol explains that the transfer from Ethereum to the supported Layer 2 network uses a lock-and-cast model. For transfers between other supporting networks, CCIP switches to the destruction and casting process to keep the total supply of GHO unchanged while ensuring that tokens are interchangeable between networks.
Existing governance and institutional efforts continue to expand
Cross-chain governance continues to operate through Aave delivery infrastructure. According to Aave, proposals approved on Ethereum can be executed on other blockchain networks deployed in the loan agreement, allowing governance instructions and asset transfers to occur through the same communication layer.
Aave added that the decision continues the partnership that began in January 2020, when Aave adopted Chainlink data feed as its oracle infrastructure. Today, CCIP works in conjunction with these services through Chainlink's decentralized oracle network.
Security is still part of the design. According to Aave, each CCIP bridge channel used by the protocol is protected by at least 16 independent node operators spread across different organizations, geographical areas, and infrastructure providers. The system also applies rate limits to limit the amount of value that can be transferred between networks under abnormal circumstances.
The announcement comes as Chainlink continues to expand its institutional influence. The network joined Project Pangea in June with FairSquareLab, UniKA and Qivalis to test stablecoin foreign exchange settlement between Europe and South Korea. Chainlink said the plan involves more than 50 banks with total assets under management of more than US$10 trillion. Among them, Qivalis is supported by 37 European banks and UniKA represents more than 10 South Korean commercial banks.
