The 36th quarterly automatic destruction completed: 1,615,827.795 BNBs (worth approximately US$931.7 million) were permanently destroyed

The 36th quarterly automatic destruction has permanently destroyed 1,615,827.795 BNBs, worth approximately US$931.7 million. The total supply of BNBs has dropped to 133,166,127.91, further approaching the network's target supply of 100 million BNBs. This destruction is performed directly on the BNB Intelligent Chain (BSC) after the BNB chain fusion, and the tokens are sent to the irreversible destruction address.

BNB Chain has completed its 36th quarterly automatic BNB destruction, permanently removing 1,615,827.795 BNBs. According to the BNB Foundation, the value of tokens destroyed during the transaction was approximately US$931.7 million, making it one of the largest regular token demolitions on the network.

As of 10:35 UTC on July 15, 2026, the total supply of BNB after the latest destruction is 133,166,127.91 pieces. The destruction is part of BNB Chain's long-term deflationary token economy strategy, which aims to gradually reduce the total supply of tokens from the initial 200 million to 100 million through automatic destruction every quarter.

The 36th automatic destruction continues to advance BNB supply reduction

The latest destruction is performed directly on the BNB Intelligent Chain (BSC), reflecting the changes introduced after the BNB chain integration upgrade. Quarterly destruction no longer uses the original beacon chain infrastructure, but instead transfers a specified number of BNBs entirely on the BSC to the network's permanent "black hole" wallet addresses, making the tokens permanently inaccessible.

The BNB automatic destruction mechanism is designed to operate independently of the Binance centralized exchange. Unlike the original destruction model based on Binance Exchange revenue, the current system calculates the quarterly destruction volume based on an algorithm based on BNB's quarterly average market price and the total number of blocks produced by BNB's smart chain. The process can be independently audited and published quarterly to improve transparency and predictability.

BNB Chain also pointed out that recent network upgrades (including Lorentz, Maxwell and Fermi upgrades) have increased the speed of block generation in BSC. Therefore, the parameters in the automatic destruction formula have been adjusted accordingly to maintain a higher block frequency while maintaining the original economic intent of the destruction mechanism.

BNB remains at the core of the BNB Chain ecosystem

As a native asset of the BNB Chain ecosystem, BNB drives transactions on the BNB Intelligent Chain (BSC), opBNB Layer 2 and BNB Greenfield. In addition to paying online transaction fees, the token is also used for on-chain governance, allowing holders to participate in decentralized governance decisions in the ecosystem.

BNB Chain has launched a dedicated Layer 1 blockchain specifically designed for AI-driven transaction agents, aiming to improve execution capabilities and high-performance transactions on autonomous chains. The network is expected to launch its main network in 2027, marking the latest expansion of BNB Chain's focus on AI blockchain infrastructure.

Since the main online line on April 18, 2019 (BNB migrated from Ethereum to its own blockchain), the token has become a core part of BNB's Chain Web3 infrastructure. The project's "Build and Build" concept positions BNB as a utility token and strategic reserve asset that supports ecosystem growth and broader institutional interests.

BEP-95 real-time destruction and quarterly destruction are advanced in parallel

In addition to the quarterly automatic destruction plan, BNB Chain also continues to reduce supply through the BEP-95 real-time destruction mechanism. Under this mechanism, the BSC verifier destroys a certain percentage of the Gas fee generated by each block in the network.

According to BNB Chain, approximately 291,000 BNBs have been permanently removed since the launch of the BEP-95 mechanism. This ongoing destruction complements the quarterly automated destruction plan and helps the network meet long-term supply reduction goals.

With the completion of the 36th quarterly destruction, BNB Chain continues to follow the established deflation strategy while maintaining an independently verifiable process to gradually reduce circulating supply.

On April 15, 2026, BNB Chain completed its 35th quarterly automatic BNB destruction, permanently destroying 1,569,307.34 BNBs (worth approximately US$1.02 billion). This destruction reduced the total supply of BNB to 134,786,916.53 pieces, and was executed directly on the BNB Intelligent Chain (BSC) after the BNB chain integration upgrade.

The automatic destruction mechanism calculates the quarterly destruction amount based on the average price of BNB and the number of blocks produced by BNB smart chain, ensuring that the process is transparent and independently auditable. The latest 36th quarterly destruction continues to advance on this basis and continues to achieve BNB Chain's long-term goal of reducing the total supply of tokens to 100 million.

During the period from June 29 to July 5, 2026, BNB Chain's TVL increased from US$4.85 billion to US$4.97 billion, and the market value of the token rose to nearly US$77.5 billion. Although DEX trading volume fell in the second half of the week, the market value of stablecoins remained at approximately US$17.8 billion, indicating stable online liquidity.
