InterLink proposes reverse auction for ITL Treasury

Community-led repurchase framework

InterLink Labs (@inter_link) has proposed a voluntary repurchase proposal for its $ITL tokens based on a reverse auction mechanism. Under this framework, holders can set the number of ITLs they wish to sell and the price they are willing to accept, while InterLink Labs reserves the right to selectively repurchase tokens to build long-term capital reserves.

The company said the structure was designed to ensure that the process was transparent and stress-free, and that every community member participated fully voluntarily. Auction-based buybacks allow projects to buy back tokens at competitive prices, helping to ensure fair pricing, rather than being purchased at arbitrary prices or that may affect market fluctuations.

Token repurchase means that a crypto project uses its own income or financial reserves to repurchase its tokens on the open market, and the purchased tokens are then destroyed, locked, held or distributed to contributors. InterLink's reverse auction variant places pricing power directly to the holder, which distinguishes it from standard open market repurchase programs.

Disposal of Repurchased Tokens

InterLink Labs is seeking community input to determine the final fate of any $ITL tokens that are repurchased. There are currently two options to choose from. The first option is to permanently destroy these tokens, thereby reducing the circulation supply. The second option is to reassign them to developers, ambassadors, builders, and wider ecosystem contributors.

Existing repurchase frameworks are usually optimized for one of two main outcomes: one is to reduce supply, that is, tokens are destroyed or permanently removed, thereby reducing the net supply over time; and the other is to create revenue for holders, that is, the repurchased tokens are distributed to pledgers or distributed through a holder allocation mechanism, converting capital reserve activities into recurring returns. InterLink's proposal is in the middle of this discussion, and the final direction will be determined based on community feedback before any action is taken.

The proposal will now be reviewed by the ITL Foundation, taking into account input from the broad community. InterLink Labs adopts a dual token model: ITLG is the main governance and utility token with a fixed supply of 10 billion coins; and ITL is a secondary token used for external payments, liquidity and capital reserve purposes.

The reverse auction approach reflects a broader shift in the way crypto projects manage their capital reserves. Whether through formal governance proposals or voluntary investor actions, buybacks have become a key tool for crypto projects aimed at increasing the value and confidence of token holders.
