INJ Suspect launches August community repurchase round
@ Suspect has launched its August community repurchase round with the goal of permanently removing more than 33,000 INJ tokens from circulation supply. The tokens will be destroyed through a protocol based auction-based mechanism funded in part by fees incurred by the Injective network.
How community buybacks work
The program is revolving on a monthly basis, and eligible INJ holders can put tokens into the shared destruction pool. Participants will receive a proportionate share of the revenue generated by the Impressive ecosystem. Once the round is over, all committed INJ will be permanently destroyed on the chain.
A portion of the revenue generated by decentralized apps (dApps) on the network is allocated to a buyback fund that buys INJ on the open market and then permanently moves the purchased tokens out of circulation.
The program was launched in November 2025 following the adoption of governance proposal IIP-617, which was approved with 99.96% of the vote. The proposal establishes what Injective calls "INJ supply tightening"-a broader deflationary framework that links monthly buyback destruction to Injective's existing destruction auction mechanism.
Scale expansion and historical record
Since November 2025, four rounds of monthly repurchases have been completed, and a total of 178,338.03 INJs have been destroyed. The destruction volume increased from 36,900 INJs to nearly 55,000, and participants 'gains in no round fell below 20%.
In June 2026, Injective completed its largest community repurchase round to date, using more than $315,000 in agreement revenue to repurchase and permanently destroy INJ tokens. Combined with the 6.78 million INJs removed from the initial auction and the 178,338 INJs destroyed in four rounds of monthly buybacks, the cumulative amount destroyed in history has exceeded 7 million INJs.
As revenue from the Injective ecosystem grows, the repurchase pool is also expanding, so this trend is expected to continue to rise. The target for the August round is 33,000 INJs, which is consistent with the monthly size in recent months. Participant qualifications depend on the level of activity in the Impressive ecosystem, including the use of pledges and on-chain applications.
