ADA leads community sentiment rankings
Cardano has climbed to the top of the CoinMarketCap bullish sentiment rankings, with its $ADA ecosystem surpassing all other mainstream agreements in community engagement. The change reflects a growing belief among holders that the network's long-standing development efforts are beginning to mature, although token prices have not yet fully reflected the changing fundamentals.
The emotional reading comes at a dramatic moment. The Van Rossem hard fork went online on July 18, 2026, activating version 11 of the protocol, making smart contracts run faster and cheaper. This is the first time Cardano has approved an upgrade fully through its on-chain governance system Voltaire and transitioned the network to version 11 of the protocol with minimal interference.
Cardano also ranks sixth in the world in terms of developer activity, recording more than 14,100 GitHub submissions in a year, indicating that core development is continuous and robust.
Deepening infrastructure progress beneath the surface
Many of the activities driving renewed interest occur at the protocol level. Cardano's next-generation consensus protocol Ouroboros Leios has more than 5,700 development updates and 705,000 lines of code, and its public test network will be launched on June 23, 2026. Leios aims to significantly increase transaction throughput by processing transactions in parallel in the new block production pipeline.
The broader development landscape for 2026 includes: stronger governance through DReps, structured ecosystem funding processes, Hydra optimization, Midgard Rollup development, deeper DeFi liquidity, and the continued expansion of Midnight and partner chains.
Cardano's decentralized treasury funds development through community votes rather than centralized grants, with the proposal being voted on by delegated representatives (DReps), who oversees ecosystem spending. This model is designed to fund infrastructure, developer tools and ecosystem growth in the long term.
The divergence between on-chain progress and market valuations has not been ignored by community members. ADA shows stronger ecosystem fundamentals in 2026, but prices have not yet confirmed a major breakthrough and investor interest remains relatively cautious.
For a network that has long operated on a peer-reviewed, research-first model, the current surge in sentiment suggests that the community believes the gap is closing.
