The next generation stablecoin project Open USD (OUSD) will be launched soon

The next generation stablecoin project Open USD (OUSD) for institutional investors is preparing to be launched. The stablecoin is supported by an alliance of more than 140 companies including Visa, Mastercard, and BlackRock and will be first released on the Ethereum network.

Ethereum Institutional, an independent non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the adoption of Ethereum by institutional investors, issued a statement on its official X account announcing the news.

"Visa, Mastercard, Stripe, BlackRock, BNY Mellon and more than 140 participating companies will bring OUSD to Ethereum for the first time."

Targeting corporate payment infrastructure

According to the statement, Open USD (OUSD) is positioned as a stablecoin designed to help companies make digital dollar transactions more convenient. Open Standard, the company behind the project, wants to allow companies to cast and redeem OUSD without fees or quantity restrictions.

A distinctive feature of this stablecoin is its reserve yield model. Open USD plans to share the proceeds generated by reserves with partners in the ecosystem after deducting operating management fees. This structure is a different way of sharing revenue compared to some existing large stablecoin models.

Finally, the launch of OUSD on the Ethereum network is of great significance for further consolidating the platform's leading position in the field of institutional finance. Because Ethereum has become an important infrastructure used by institutions in terms of stablecoins, real-world assets (RWA) and tokenization applications.
