Giorgio Zinetti steps down as Chief Technology Officer of the Cardano Foundation
Giorgio Zinetti is about to resign as Chief Technology Officer of the Cardano Foundation after two and a half years in office. Zinetti announced on Platform X on Monday that he will leave the organization on August 31 and plans to embark on a new journey in September.
"Two and a half years have passed, and I will resign as CTO of the Cardano Foundation at the end of August. Time flies. I am proud of our achievements, but I am even more grateful to the partners who have traveled along the way. First, I will take a few weeks off to welcome our daughter, and then start a new..."-- Giorgio Zinetti (@giozzi) August 10, 2026
He joined the Cardano Foundation in 2024 as the technical director, responsible for expanding the foundation's projects and products, focusing on promoting the large-scale development of enterprise-level applications.
The foundation confirmed Zinetti's departure in a separate post on Platform X. No successor has been announced, nor has Zinetti's CTO responsibilities after leaving at the end of the month been explained. However, the foundation said that the board and executive team will continue to work closely with senior technical and business developers to ensure that the development of enterprise-level applications does not deviate from the established direction.
The Cardano Foundation wrote: "Based on the current roadmap, the foundation's board of directors and executive team will continue to work closely with our heads of technology and advanced business development to continue to focus on enterprise-level applications."
Emurgo withdraws from Cardano governance architecture
The Swiss-based Cardano Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing the development of Cardano. It is worth noting that Cardano is also supported by two other independent entities: Input Output Global (IOG) and Emurgo. The three companies collaborate to manage and promote the development of the Cardano blockchain.
IOG is Cardano's engineering and development department, led by Charles Hoskinson;Emurgo serves as the commercial operator. However, in July this year, Emurgo announced that it would withdraw from his role as a member of the Cardano Governance Group. The decision came after his wallet SecondFi was attacked, resulting in $2.4 million in ADA damage.
Cardano currently ranks as the 29th largest blockchain based on total locked asset value (TVL). According to DeFiLlama's online data, its DeFi TVL is US$69.62 million, covering 69 agreements. As of the time of writing, the ADA transaction price of native tokens was US$0.1961, with a market value of approximately US$7.16 billion.
