AI Agents and Discoverability Promotion
The BNB chain came to an end in a significant development period in early August 2026, releasing a series of updates covering AI infrastructure, institutional recognition and user growth.
The key data in terms of AI is that more than 200,000 agents have been registered on the BNB intelligent chain according to ERC-8004 (Agent Identity Chain Standard). The BNB smart chain carries more than 200,000 ERC-8004 agents, accounting for approximately 60% of the total number of such agents in 26 networks, more than the total number of all other networks.
However, this scale exposes a practical problem: there is currently no easy way to find them-to hire an agent today, you need to go through X platform posts and GitHub repositories, and there is no way to compare the agent's capabilities, whether it is online, and its past performance.
In order to fill this gap, BNB Chain officially launched the "Build the Era" open hackathon on August 5, 2026, inviting individual developers and teams to submit plans to build the best AI proxy trading market on the BNB smart chain. The total prize pool exceeds US$40,000 and is jointly provided by BNB chain and ecosystem partners TermiX, PancakeSwap, AltLayer and Altana. Contestants will need to build the market itself, rather than the portfolio of individual agents; the review will be based mainly on how easy it is for users to discover and hire agents through the platform.
Institutional recognition and record number of users
The hackathon came as BNB Chain reported the strongest user activity in its history. The network said that the average daily active users reached 4.5 million in the first quarter of 2026, which, measured by this, leads the Layer-1 blockchain with wavefield, NEAR protocol, Solana and Sei networks.
At the institutional level, two independent index developments have attracted attention. On July 21, 2026, S & P Dow Jones Indices and Pantera Capital launched the S & P Pantera Digital Assets Index, a benchmark index of 18 constituent stocks. Digital assets are screened based on revenue generated by the underlying blockchain network and weighted by adjusted market value. Its current top ten positions place ETH, BNB, SOL, TRX and HYPE at the core of the benchmark release, with BNB ranking second behind ETH. Bitcoin and XRP are not included in the index.
In addition, Gray Investment has elevated BNB to a leading position in its existing fund portfolio. The company's second quarter 2026 fund rebalancing (effective from the close on August 3 and announced on August 5) places BNB first among grayscale smart contract funds, with a total weight of approximately 30.6%, slightly higher than Ethereum's 29.47% and Solana's 29.15%. According to the CoinDesk smart contract platform's selection cap index method, Gray adjusted the fund's asset portfolio by selling existing components on a pro rata basis and using cash proceeds to purchase BNB.
In addition to indices and funds, BNB Chain is positioning itself as the infrastructure for tokenized ETF trading, integrating its AI agent construction, DeFi activities and growing institutional image into a broader narrative around real-world financial use cases.
