Mystery trader spends millions on buying ahead of Trump's 2:30 p.m. meeting

The White House will hold a meeting with cryptocurrency and forecast markets companies on August 19. According to reports on August 13, U.S. President Donald Trump and Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) Chairman Mike Selig may speak at the meeting.

It was revealed that executives from cryptocurrency companies Coinbase (Nasdaq: COIN), a16z, Ripple and Chainlink will attend the White House meeting. Popular forecast market Kalsi and its supporter Paradigm will also be represented.

The meeting will be held today at 2:30 p.m. ET, and the Clarification Act has failed to make any progress this season.

Mystery trader buys ahead of Trump meeting. On August 17, the online analytics platform Lookonchain disclosed that before Trump met with crypto executives, a mysterious trader bought 5000 Ethereum (ETH) pieces worth US$9.53 million and pledged them.

The whale address 0x8447 bought another 5000 Ethereum (worth US$9.53 million) seven hours ago and pledged them. The whale bought a total of 10657 Ethereum pieces (worth US$20.07 million).

The wallet addresses of cryptocurrency traders are public, but their names are rarely disclosed, so such traders are also called "mystery traders" and their identities remain anonymous.

Ethereum has a market value of US$232.82 million and is the second largest cryptocurrency in the world. Pledge is the process of locking 32 Ethereum pieces to help protect the blockchain network, verify transactions, and earn passive rewards.

According to Lookonchain, the trader bought a total of 10657 Ethereum pieces worth US$20.07 million.

As of press time, Ethereum was trading at $1,931.60, up 1.8% in the past 24 hours.
