Trump said the CFTC was creating a compliant U.S. access path for Hyperliquid, and HYPE immediately rose briefly.
Trump said that the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) is studying a compliant U.S. access path for Hyperliquid. The comment briefly jumped HYPE prices from about $62 to $72.30. Matt Hougan, chief investment officer of Bitwise, widely circulated the development, and traders were also watching whether the token was close to an all-time high.
At a meeting of cryptocurrency executives, regulators and technology leaders convened by President Donald Trump at the White House, he revealed that regulators are developing a compliant U.S. market access plan for the Hyperliquid platform. After the comments, HYPE prices briefly rose from about $62 to $72.30. The meeting was held in Washington on August 19.
Trump hinted that Hyperliquid would enter the U.S. market, and HYPE prices rose in response
Trump pointed out that CFTC Chairman Michael Selig is the official in charge of the work. He said Selig is working hard to promote Hyperliquid to enter the U.S. market in a fully compliant and legal manner.
Trump "The chairman of the CFTC is working to bring Hyperliquid into the United States in a fully compliant and legal manner;HYPE immediately rose by about 16%," it said on social media. After the news was released, HYPE prices responded quickly, once approaching US$72.30, and then fell back below US$70, which once again focused the market's attention on the all-time high set in June-about US$76.
Matt Hougan, chief investment officer of Bitwise, also spread the news on the X platform. He quoted Trump and said the moment was of great significance to the entire industry. Jake Chervinsky, CEO of the Hyperliquid Policy Center, also said separately that Hyperliquid is about to enter the U.S. market.
In fact, the relevant regulatory foundation work has been going on for several months. In July, the Hyperliquid Policy Center and Phantom jointly submitted a petition to the CFTC, hoping to develop relevant rules that are more suitable for the unmanaged DeFi protocol. They believe that traditional exchange regulatory requirements do not apply to decentralized software.
The CFTC's regulatory path may reshape Hyperliquid's market access in the United States
The next policy signal may come from Selig. The CFTC will hold its first Innovation Advisory Committee meeting on August 20, with the agenda covering crypto assets, artificial intelligence and forecasting markets.
If Hyperliquid can enter the U.S. market legally, it will open the door to one of the world's deepest derivatives markets. Currently, U.S. users are still restricted under the terms of the platform.
However, key issues such as registration, user identification (KYC) and leverage limits remain unresolved. These rules are difficult to implement for on-chain, non-managed order book systems.
In terms of HYPE prices, current resistance is in the range of US$70 to US$72.30. If it continues to break through this range, market attention will turn to a June high of around $76. If blocked, HYPE prices may fall back to the US$62 to US$63 region, the starting point of this round of gains. Therefore, Selig's subsequent remarks will have an important impact on the regulatory direction of the CFTC and the short-term price trend of HYPE.
