Bitcoin retracts from $80,000: Which altcoins are rising?

Bitcoin fell back to US$76,556 after a strong rise this week. The market correction also affected altcoins, but Hyperliquid's HYPE token hit a record high.

Bitcoin experienced selling pressure near the weekend after rising sharply in just a few days. BTC once approached US$80,000, then fell back to US$75,500, but has now recovered. The current Bitcoin transaction price is US$76,556.

The correction in the cryptocurrency market is more pronounced in altcoins. After soaring nearly 70% in a short period of time, XRP suffered a fierce sell-off at $1.70, and the price fell below $1.50. Ethereum stood at this level again after falling below $2,400.

Bitcoin failed to break through US$80,000

Bitcoin started its rally on Wednesday and achieved a strong rebound after a long period of oscillation below US$65,000 at the beginning of the week. BTC quickly broke through US$70,000 and moved closer to US$80,000. However, after a gain of nearly 25% in about 48 hours, the sell-off was not surprising. Bitcoin first fell back to $76,200, and then tried again to get closer to $79,000. Selling pressure has since strengthened again, and BTC once fell back to US$75,500 on Sunday. Bitcoin gained support here and is currently trading around $76,556. Bitcoin has a market value of approximately US$1.54 trillion, and its market dominance rate exceeds 58%.

HYPE hits record high

Despite selling pressure on the market as a whole, Hyperliquid's HYPE tokens continued to rise strongly. HYPE broke through $82 on Saturday, setting a record high. The token was still able to hit a new high despite the weekend sell-off, indicating that it is one of the assets that remains strong in the market. Pump.fun has also risen more than 17% in the past 24 hours and has attracted much attention. Ethena's ENA token rose by about 8%. In contrast, some altcoins sold more violently. Official Trump (TRUMP) fell as much as 33% from its recent highs, while CRO and WLD fell more than 7%. Canton (CC), Stellar (XLM) and Sui (SUI) all fell more than 5% daily, ranking the bottom of the performance. XRP fell below $1.50 after selling off at $1.70. BNB remained below $690, and the correction in Bitcoin triggered profit-taking in most of the altcoins.

Altcoins are clearly divided

While Bitcoin and most mainstream altcoins are pulling back, some tokens on the market stand out with their strong gains. According to CoinGecko data, Tutorial (TUT) is one of the biggest gainers in cryptocurrencies today. TUT prices surged 57.9% in the past 24 hours to $0.06151, and daily trading volume exceeded $152 million. The Interfold (FOLD) followed closely, with a 50.3% increase. LayerZero's ZRO token rose 21.6% to $1.20. Binance data also showed ZRO rose by about 20%. Siren (SIREN) rose 16.4%, one of the tokens worth watching today. These dynamics suggest that not all altcoins fell simultaneously as Bitcoin fell back to $76,556. In particular, the strong gains in TUT and ZRO indicate that investor interest is still concentrated in some altcoins.

Cryptocurrency market drops US$100 billion

The total market value of cryptocurrencies has dropped approximately US$100 billion to US$2.65 trillion from local highs set this week. Despite this, the overall market situation is still stronger than at the beginning of the week. The total market value has risen by about $400 billion since Wednesday. Therefore, it remains to be seen whether the current trend is a brief correction after a strong rise or whether the selling will deepen further. In particular, whether Bitcoin can hold the US$75,500 area is crucial to the subsequent development of the weekend market. As long as BTC remains above the region, it is not enough to conclude that the recent rally has completely collapsed. Conversely, a loss of $75,500 could signal a deeper correction.
