Cryptocurrencies didn't get off to a smooth start this week. Bitcoin prices fell below US$63,000 again today, opening the new trading week down about 1.8%. Altcoins all went viral, with Ethereum falling below US$1,800, and the XRP trading price close to US$1.08.
However, there are still some positive encryption news worthy of attention. Let me interpret them one by one below.
The Clarity Act is gaining momentum
Senator Cynthia Loomis tweeted in support of the Clarity Act, writing: "Millions of Americans already own digital assets but there is no federal framework to protect them. The clarity bill can give Americans the confidence and security they need to participate in the digital economy."
Meanwhile, President Trump made a surprise statement urging the Senate to pass a clear bill in memory of the late Senator Lindsay Graham, calling the South Carolina Republican a "staunch supporter" of the bill.
This is a major piece of encryption news because Trump has not continued to speak out on encryption policy before. His endorsement added political weight to the bill. The clarity bill passed the Senate Banking Committee in May and is currently on the Senate agenda. Momentum is gathering.

Bitcoin Open Interest: A Key Indicator to Watch
Well-known Bitcoin analyst Lucky tweeted that Bitcoin open interest contracts have become one of the most noteworthy indicators. Since 2023, BTC prices have expanded in parallel with total open interest, reflecting increasing participation in the derivatives market.
From historical data, the period of rapid growth of open interest contracts is often accompanied by the accumulation of market leverage, followed by violent fluctuations and uncertain directions.

The figure shows the synchronized trend of Bitcoin prices and open interest contracts. The key question now is: Will this new money support the next round of gains, or has leverage levels reached unsustainable levels?
This means that a rise in open interest may be bullish if it means new funds enter; but it may also be bearish if leveraged bulls are squeezed. The data itself is neutral-depending on the direction of the breakthrough.
BitMine purchased 27,801 ETH, holding 5.77 million ETH positions.
BitMine said it had purchased 27,801 ETH in the past week, bringing its total position to 5,770,038 ETH-approximately 4.8% of Ethereum's total supply. Among them, the company has pledged 4,917,189 ETH pieces.
As of July 12, BitMine also held US$482 million in cash and marketable securities. The total value of its crypto assets, cash and other investments is US$11.3 billion.
This is an important vote of confidence cast by the institution in Ethereum. Despite the bear market, BitMine continues to increase its holdings.

Strategy sold US$466.7 million in MSTR shares and did not buy Bitcoin
According to an SEC filing filed on July 13, Strategy sold 4.82 million MSTR shares between July 6 and 12. Net income was $466.7 million. The company did not buy any bitcoins this week, and its position remained unchanged at 843,775 BTC.
Its dollar reserves increased to US$3 billion.

This is worth noting. Strategy has been a continuing buyer of Bitcoin for years. It is rare to buy zero for a week in a row. The company is holding cash rather than buying on dips.
Japanese financial giant SBI cooperates with Solana
Japanese financial giant SBI Holdings and Solana Foundation announced the establishment of a strategic partnership to jointly develop Japan's local online financial market.
As part of the plan, the Solana Foundation will join SBI R3 Japan (which will be renamed SBI Solana Global), with partners that also include SBI and Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group, one of Japan's three largest banks.
Cooperation will focus on:
-Japanese yen stablecoins
-tokenized real-world assets, including bonds, funds and real estate
-Cross-border payment infrastructure
-Institutional-level on-chain financial services
SBI said the plan aims to connect Japan's regulated financial markets with global blockchain liquidity and build Japan into an on-chain financial center in Asia.
This was an important institutional victory for Solana. SBI, one of Japan's largest financial groups, has introduced Solana to its ecosystem and is expected to drive mass adoption in the Japanese market.
Hyperliquid open interest exceeded US$11 billion
According to DeFiLlama data, Hyperliquid's total open interest reached approximately US$11.07 billion on July 13-the highest level in 2026, and then fell back to approximately US$10.88 billion.
The HIP-3 market contributed approximately US$3.69 billion, with RWA open interest contracts reaching a record high.

This suggests that demand for Hyperliquid leveraged trading is growing, especially for real-world asset products.
Overall, today's crypto news is mixed: there is both positive catalysts and continued market weakness.
The Clear Bill is gaining momentum with Trump's endorsement. BitMine is actively buying Ethereum. SBI and Solana collaborated to build online finance in Japan. Hyperliquid open interest contracts hit a new high in 2026.
But Bitcoin is still below $63,000. Strategy suspends buying. ETF inflows remain weak.
Positive news is laying the foundation for recovery, but the market has not yet arrived. Summer months have traditionally been light.
