Coinbase completes native INJ migration
Coinbase has activated native $INJ support, and users around the world can now directly trade and transfer assets on the Aggressive network. The move marks the official end of the ERC-20 era for INJ on the exchange.
During the three-day window from July 20 to 22, Coinbase suspended all INJ recharges and withdrawals, and converted users 'ERC-20 balances to native INJ format for free at a 1:1 ratio. After the conversion is completed, the exchange will only support the native version of INJ.
This conversion benefits from Injective's Multi-Virtual Machine Token Standard (MTS), which allows unified token balances across different execution environments, including EVM and WASM, without users needing to bridge tokens between the two. For developers, this means they can build applications in their preferred execution environment without having to decentralize mobility or user experience with different chain formats.
What it means for the Injective ecosystem
This integration eliminates the friction of packaging tokens, allowing users to interact with Injective's decentralized applications (dApps) directly from the exchange.
This is a significant distribution milestone for Injective. The agreement now provides direct access to Coinbase platform assets and global transaction volume, lowering barriers to access the network for retail and institutional participants.
The industry is widely believed to be positive for $INJ because it enhances liquidity and accessibility through a major U.S. exchange and is expected to expand the investor base and consolidate infrastructure.
Previously, Kraken completed the conversion of its ERC-20 to native INJ in 2025, becoming one of the first major exchanges to fully embrace the Impressive native chain. Coinbase's follow-up brings the largest retail platform in the United States to keep pace with this trend.
Aggressive is a Layer 1 blockchain built specifically for decentralized finance that provides low-latency transactions and native order books. The native token $INJ is used for governance, pledge and transaction fees within the ecosystem.
