XRPL Commons launches a new funding plan to empower next-generation XRP ledger builders
XRPL Commons recently released a three-direction funding plan aimed at accelerating innovation in the XRP ledger (XRPL) ecosystem and providing stronger support for open source developers, start-ups and mature blockchain projects. This initiative came into being as the network entered a new stage of growth.
The non-profit organization said the XRP ledger is moving from a centralized funding model to an ecosystem where multiple independent organizations work together to support builders. Since 2017, more than US$550 million has been invested in the XRPL ecosystem, and XRPL Commons has become a key contributor through developer education, project incubation, financial support and ecological expansion.
After training hundreds of developers, running the "Aquarium" incubator since 2023, and rewarding open source contributors through its "Glow" program, XRPL Commons is now integrating these efforts into a structured funding program that supports builders at all stages, from creativity to implementation.
First direction: The Glow program
The Glow program rewards completed, verifiable open source contributions rather than projects that are still in the conceptual stage. Eligible contributions include developer tools, core infrastructure, technical documentation, security improvements, and protocol enhancements. Since its launch in October 2025, Glow has funded 11 projects covering areas such as node management, transaction analysis and post-quantum cryptography. The program accepts applications quarterly and will last until December 2026.
Second direction: For early teams
This direction is designed for early teams building projects on XRPL. Its components include: Make Waves-a 90-day competition that rewards the most outstanding projects in terms of user growth and on-chain activity; The Aquarium-a nine-week incubator that has now expanded online to cater to global entrepreneurs; and Early Stage Grants-provides mile-based financial support to teams that already have products on testnet or mainnet. The focus of this direction is to support projects that demonstrate measurable user adoption results, while also providing technical guidance and marketing support.
Third-party direction: Enabling enterprise-level applications
This direction is for mature blockchain products seeking to integrate XRPL infrastructure. The first typical case is LOBSTR, one of the largest wallets in the Stellar ecosystem. Through a partnership with XRPL Commons, LOBSTR recently completed integration with XRPL, giving its more than 1.5 million users direct access to the network.
XRPL Commons said these integrations benefit from XRPL's enterprise-level infrastructure, including: native decentralized exchanges (MEV-free and preemptive trading), licensed DEXs for regulated markets, built-in compliance features, managed services, payment channels, and cross-currency settlement. Combined with a final confirmation time of 3 to 5 seconds for transactions and extremely low handling fees, XRPL provides a faster and cheaper basic platform for developers to build financial applications.
The launch of the funding program comes as XRPL adoption continues to accelerate. Messari's first quarter 2026 report shows that the network has processed more than 3.7 billion transactions, and the average daily transaction volume has increased by 35.3% month-on-month to 2.48 million. Tokenized real-world assets also hit a record high of $2.25 billion, an increase of 124.1% from the previous quarter, reflecting rising institutional participation.
A series of recent ecological collaborations have further consolidated this momentum. In addition to LOBSTR integrating XRPL, RedotPay has also launched XRPL-based RLUSD cards in more than 100 countries, allowing users to obtain stablecoin-backed credit services without having to sell XRP. These measures have injected strong impetus into ecological development and further consolidated XRPL's position as a leading blockchain in the fields of payments, tokenization and enterprise-level financial infrastructure.
