Garden Finance, a cross-chain bridging and atomic exchange protocol, is attacked
Garden Finance temporarily took its application offline after blockchain security company Blockaid reported that attackers used the protocol's hash time-locked contract (HTLC) to launch attacks on four blockchain networks.
Blockaid said on Sunday that an attacker stole approximately $450,000 in USDT from HTLC contracts deployed by Garden Finance on Ethereum, Base, Arbitrum and BNB intelligent chains. HTLC is a time-limited escrow contract that Garden Finance uses to implement atomic exchanges between Bitcoin and other network assets.
Blockaid said in an alert that the attack was still ongoing, but did not disclose details of the suspected vulnerability or say whether the incident affected user funds. Blockaid's alerts include the associated addresses of the attacker and the affected contract.
Garden Finance issued a separate document stating that "abnormal activity" has been detected and is conducting a full investigation, while its app is still temporarily offline. Garden Finance and Blockaid both confirmed receiving Cointelegraph's request for comment.
This incident occurred after a security breach in October 2025, when attackers stole approximately $11.4 million by hacking into the operating environment of a Garden Finance solver. Garden Finance said the breach did not affect its agreements and did not endanger user funds.
