South Korean trading giant Posco International teamed up with LG CNS to tokenize real trade receivables on the Injective blockchain.

South Korea's largest trading company PoSCO International and LG CNS, a technology subsidiary of LG Group, have reached a cooperation to tokenize the issuance, transfer and settlement of real commercial trade receivables on the Injective ($INJ) first-level blockchain network. This is by far one of the most specific enterprise-level blockchain deployment applications in the region.

Real data is by no means simulation

Posco International's revenue last year reached US$22.2 billion, and its business covers the fields of steel, energy and battery materials. In this cooperation, LG CNS, as a technical partner, is responsible for completing the issuance, circulation and settlement of accounts receivable on the Impressive blockchain. The pilot project is unique in that it uses real business data rather than simulated transactions-it directly uses actual trade data from Posco's overseas subsidiaries to verify the issuance, transfer and settlement process of accounts receivable.

Trade accounts receivable refer to the right of collection that a company enjoys after the goods are shipped and before the payment is received. Currently, such accounts are managed separately by buyers, sellers and banks, often causing delays in the settlement of funds for several days. Posco International's pilot project aims to create a unified, transferable on-chain record for each account receivable, including compliance data, ownership history and settlement instructions. By replacing fragmented traditional records with synchronized on-chain data, the initiative directly targets the US$5 trillion annual trade finance market.

South Korean enterprises accelerate transformation of blockchain applications

LG CNS has led the pilot of the key phase of the Bank of Korea's digital currency (CBDC) wholesale business and built a tokenized deposit platform for the Bank of Korea involving seven major banks. These backgrounds make it a trusted technical partner for this large-scale project. The pilot is expected to be completed before the end of this year, after which both parties plan to evaluate the expansion of the system to actual business operations.

This cooperation highlights the increasing importance that South Korean corporate circles attach to blockchain technology in the fields of trade finance, stablecoin fund management and asset tokenization. This trend is in line with a larger wave of embracing blockchain by major South Korean companies-including Hyundai Motor's adoption of stablecoins and Circle's partnership with Kakao Group and Toss Bank to build payment infrastructure. According to Citibank forecasts, the current global tokenization market is US$35 billion and is expected to reach US$5.5 trillion by 2030. The deployment of Posco International and LG CNS on Injective has added important enterprise-level practical components to this growth trajectory, moving discussions from theoretical potential to practical commercial applications.
