BTC The BIP-110 fork is cold, and the Bitcoin main chain retains 99.85% of computing power.
Since the BIP-110 fork was launched on August 8, the Bitcoin main chain has retained almost all computing power. Strategy Chairman Michael Siler said that about 99.85% of Bitcoin computing power remains on the main network. The BIP-110 branch has only dug up two blocks, and has fallen behind the main chain by more than 80 blocks.
It is difficult for BIP-110 to obtain support from miners.
Thaler pointed out that BIP-110 currently only controls about 0.15% of Bitcoin's computing power. At this rate, it will take about 25 years for this small number of branches to reach the next difficulty adjustment.
The proposal attempts to impose temporary restrictions on non-monetary data attached to Bitcoin transactions. According to Tangem, the focus of the debate revolves around Ordinals, BRC-20 tokens, Runes and other large data inscriptions.
Proponents believe that such data will increase the size of the blockchain and increase the cost burden on full-node operators. They also pointed out that this data competes with regular payments for block space.
However, major mining pools did not support this fork. Nodes running BIP-110 software chose to continue running on another few chains.
BIP Editor Calls for Removal of Dashjr
Bitcoin BIP Editor Murry also questioned the proposal's development process. According to Wu Blockchain, Murch recommended removing Luke Dashjr from the BIP editor list.
Murry claims that Dashjr assisted in creating and implementing the proposal before BIP-110 gained extensive mailing list discussions. He also mentioned that a related pull request was merged shortly after submission.
In addition, Murch said communication between Dashjr and other BIP editors had been interrupted. As a result, the controversy has spread from the miners 'support level to the Bitcoin proposal process level.
Dan Held criticizes BIP-110 supporters
Kraken marketing head Dan Held called the BIP-110 a waste of developer time. He also criticized the way supporters treat miners, businesses and other Bitcoin participants.
Held likened the controversy to the fork of Bitcoin cash ten years ago. He said BIP-110 supporters have failed to gain widespread acceptance in the Bitcoin community.
At the same time, Tangem said ordinary Bitcoin holders were not affected by the fork. After the BIP-110 activation window opens, the Bitcoin main chain continues to operate normally.
The proposal uses a 55% computing power threshold, which is lower than the 95% level typically required for Bitcoin upgrades. The enforcement window begins on August 8 with a block height of 961,632.
