BNB Chain clarifies that it has nothing to do with Memecoin created by employees

BNB Chain recently stated that it has nothing to do with memecoin "ASTEROID" created by a former employee. The former employee used unauthorized mnemonic words to generate a new private key and issued tokens from the same wallet address.

This matter dates back to the previously launched TST token. According to BNB Chain, during his tenure at the company, the former employee used the official test wallet to create a new wallet address for making video tutorials, and issued TST tokens through this address.

The employee still had unauthorized access to relevant mnemons after leaving the company and used this information to create a new private key. After investigation, on August 1, the same address was used to issue a new meme coin named ASTEROID on BNB Chain.

It is reported that the market value of ASTEROID tokens briefly soared to US$10 million in the first four hours after issuance.

BNB Chain made it clear that the altcoin ASTEROID was not created, authorized or promoted by the company. The company also emphasized that they had no control over the token or its associated wallet address, and that the project was not supported by BNB Chain.

The

statement stated: "BNB Chain did not participate in the creation of this token, nor did it authorize or endorse it. We have no control over the token or wallet address."

BNB Chain announced that it has filed legal proceedings against the former employee and is cooperating with relevant public authorities on the matter.
