DOGE and SHIB: Falling from their peak, the trend diverges
As the first well-known meme coin, DOGE has undergone remarkable transformation since its launch nearly 13 years ago. It was originally born in 2013 to parody the growing cryptocurrency boom at the time, but has now grown into one of the largest digital assets by market value.
The rapid rise and fall of Shiba Inu Coin
Shiba Inu Coin (SHIB) was launched in 2020. As a direct competitor of Dog Coin, its issuance has been promoted by the market as the "Dog Coin Killer" debut. The coin price soared by millions of percentage points in several months, reaching an all-time high of $0.0008616 in October 2021. During the initial surge, SHIB once ranked among the top 15 cryptocurrencies by market capitalisation.
However, since its early success, Shiba Inu has faced severe challenges. Its price has fallen nearly 95% from its peak, and its market value ranking has fallen out of the top 30. Despite the heavy resistance, the development team behind Shiba Inu Coin is still actively striving to expand the project ecosystem through product launches and technological innovation, so that it can transcend the mere positioning of memein. Shiba Inu Coin's expansion measures include the launch of second-layer networks Shibarium, ShibOS and the exclusive metaverse, aiming to lay the foundation for getting rid of the origin of memein and achieving sustainable growth.
Small Dictionary: Shibarium is a second-level blockchain solution developed by the Shiba Inu Coin team to reduce transaction fees and improve the scalability of SHIB and related ecological tokens.
The tenacity of dogcoin
Dogecoin reached its peak of US$0.7316 in May 2021. Although DOGE, like SHIB, has experienced a sharp correction of more than 90% since its all-time high, it has maintained a stronger position in the market rankings. According to CoinGecko, Dogecoin currently ranks 11th by market value, with a valuation of approximately US$2.84 billion.
DOGE continues to maintain a prominent position, mainly due to its extensive community support and lasting Internet popularity. Unlike Shiba Inu Coin's shift to developing new projects based on practicality, Dog Coin still relies on the enthusiasm of the user community and the market recognition it enjoys as the "originator of meme Coin".

Status of the competitive landscape
Although attention to the competition between DOGE and SHIB has waned in recent years, there are signs that competition may reignite as the two projects move in different directions. Shiba Inu Coin's attempt to transcend the origin of memein reflects its strategic intention to pursue long-term influence; while Dog Coin has made little progress in technological development, it still ranks at the forefront of the rankings, which fully proves that in the field of cryptocurrencies, the huge energy contained in community-driven value.
Although the fierce competition between Dogoin and Shiba Inu has subsided, the two's completely different strategies and increasingly fragmented market performance suggest that the debate over which memein is more important in the future may be far from over.
