Shiba Inu warning: X's account may be hacked after suspicious activities

Abnormal activity in Shiba Inu's official X account raises security concerns

As one of the most watched meme cryptocurrencies, Shiba Inu (SHIB)'s official X account has been plunged into fierce controversy due to a series of unexplained operations, and there are concerns that it may encounter security breaches.

Abnormal activity triggers alarm

Suspicions began to spread after the official SHIB account suddenly focused on an unrelated memecoin X page with a very low market value. What is even more disturbing is that the account also publicly commented under a post in the currency, and the two parties had no official connection or announcement before.

Well-known member of the SHIB community @shibarium_immediately issued an emergency "community alert" to remind followers. The alert clearly states that the "@Shibtoken" account has been compromised and calls on users to stop treating it as an official source of information. [TAG

The alert states that any new posts, airdrop announcements or links posted by this account should be considered highly suspicious and possibly related to fraudulent activity. Community members noted that this is not the first time that official SHIB accounts have promoted unrelated and illiquid projects, and that this pattern may suggest broader systemic vulnerabilities.

Root cause unknown

The root cause of the event remains unidentified. Some members of the Shiba Inu community suspect a complex hacking attack, a targeted SIM card exchange incident, or the exposure of social media account credentials from leaked databases.

Other observers believe that the incident may have originated from unofficial marketing experiments or a mistake by the project's social media management team. Decentralized Web3 projects like Shiba Inu, which have evolved from meme to a huge ecosystem, rarely interact openly with micro-market speculative assets without formal announcement.

Small Dictionary: SIM card exchange attack refers to an attacker controlling the victim's phone number by deceiving the telecom operator to transfer the victim's mobile phone number to a new SIM card, thereby controlling the victim's phone number and possibly accessing the associated online account without authorization.

Shiba Inu officials have not responded

As of now, Shiba Inu's official representatives and core developers have not issued any statements confirming or denying whether the X account was compromised.

While uncertainty persists, community leaders advise users to avoid interacting directly with the project's X account, not click on suspicious links, and directly verify all transaction information through a trusted blockchain browser and the official Ethereum token list.

Due to the lack of timely clarifications, calls for users to be vigilant and rely on on-chain verification have become increasingly strong, especially when it comes to any activity involving $SHIB tokens.
