Hot asset list sends a clear signal that retail and social tokens are gaining momentum
CoinGecko's hot asset list is sending a clear signal that tokens native to retail investors and social media are attracting widespread attention. Among them,$PENGU (@PudgyPenguins),$CASHCAT (@cashcat_token) and $PUMP (@pumpdotfun) are all at the top of the list.
PENGU leads the way, highlighting brand resilience.
$PENGU ranks first on the hot list with a market value of US$389.3 million. Data shows that its circulation supply is approximately 63 billion pieces, supporting the current valuation. The token is a homogeneous extension of the Pudgy Penguins brand. Puggy Penguins is an Ethereum series containing 8888 penguin-themed NFTs, launched in 2021 and became one of the blue-chip NFT projects with the largest transaction volume in the 2021 - 2022 cycle. The continued performance of PENGU's market value reflects the brand's lasting influence-particularly in the context of the significant decline in the market value of most NFT-related tokens since 2022.
CASHCAT followed closely
$CASHCAT (@cashcat_token) followed closely with a market cap of $135.5 million and represents an emerging class of social media native crypto projects: They have amassed momentum through a community-first approach before building a wider range of useful features. $MOWCAT (@mowcatmeme), also on the list, has a market value of approximately US$19.6 million, showing a similar development trajectory.
PUMP: Distribution platform infrastructure has become a separate asset class
$PUMP (@pumpdotfun) has a market value of US$1.1 billion, making it the most powerful token on the list after Bitcoin. The Pump.fun platform has a market value of more than US$1.1 billion, ranking 62nd in the world. The platform has become the leading force in coin issuance on the chain. Although Pump.fun's share of overall distribution platform fees fell sharply earlier this summer due to increased competition, by mid-August, its share had rebounded to more than 50%, as the overall distribution platform market grew by 77%. During the same period, Pump.fun's own expense revenue increased 30% to US$31.83 million.
Pump.fun has also recently launched a new platform mechanism to maintain its development momentum. Among them, the BOOST mechanism launched on July 21, 2026 can automatically re-inject previously locked liquidity through repurchase and destruction after token migration, thereby increasing the token graduation rate to 6.7%, which is about 8 times the average in June.
Bitcoin ranks fifth firmly, with macro narratives continuing to dominate
$BTC ranks fifth on the list with a market value of US$1.2609 trillion, reminding the market that even as funds are shifting to smaller, narration-driven assets, Bitcoin's appeal to the overall market remains solid.
Overall, the composition of the current hot list shows that the market is both chasing the macro narrative of Bitcoin and rotating towards high-beta social tokens and issuance platform infrastructure assets.
