Speculation about the relationship between Shiba Inu Ambassador Shytoshi Kusama and Litecoin founder
Recently, there has been some speculation on the Internet that Shiba Inu's chief ambassador Shytoshi Kusama may be the same person as Litecoin founder Charlie Lee. This speculation originated from a question raised by a user on the X platform. There is currently no conclusive evidence to support this statement, and neither party has confirmed or denied it.
Rumors sparked community discussions
The cause of the incident was that a user on the X platform publicly questioned whether Charlie Lee was actually the person behind the pseudonym Shytoshi Kusama. In response, Mazrael, a senior member of the Shiba Inu community and a game consultant at Shiba Eternity, commented: "It's possible that he (Kusama) had a chat with Litecoin once." This comment does not refer to overlapping identities between the two, but suggests that there may have been online interactions between Kusama and the Litecoin project.
This kind of interaction is not uncommon in the cryptocurrency space. Anonymity is widely used in this field, and cross-community communication is often conducted on social media. In November 2024, Litecoin officially posted a relaxed and humorous post describing itself as a "memecoin" with a stickman image with the letter "L" on the head. Subsequently, Kusama responded directly to Litecoin on the X platform, making it clear that "he had no intention of having a dispute with Litecoin," thereby eliminating any speculation of competitive hostility.
Still, there is no indication that Kusama and Lee are the same person, and the connection between the two appears to be limited to brief online exchanges.
Mini Dictionary: Charlie Lee
Charlie Lee is a computer scientist and entrepreneur, best known as the founder of Litecoin. Before launching Litecoin in October 2011, he worked as an engineer at Google.
The mystery of Shytoshi Kusama's identity
Shytoshi Kusama has always maintained a pseudonym in the Shiba Inu ecosystem, continuing the tradition of the project's founder Ryoshi. This approach is exactly the same as Bitcoin's anonymous founder Satoshi Nakamoto, which has sparked continued speculation and curiosity about the true identity behind major encryption projects.
Ryoshi, the founder of Shiba Inu, disappeared from public view in May 2022 and has not been heard from since, further deepening the mystery surrounding the team. Community members often quote the phrase "We are all Ryoshi" to emphasize the decentralization spirit within the project, where leadership and direction come from the community itself.
Similar to Satoshi Nakamoto, the founder of Shiba Inu, Ryoshi, disappeared from public view in May 2022 and has not had any communication since then.
Long-term silence on social media
As Shiba Inu's chief spokesperson and strategist, Shytoshi Kusama has been silent on the X platform for three consecutive months. Kusama last posted on May 13, 2026, and has not released any new news since then, marking an obvious period of silence for the project leadership.
Some community members interpreted Kusama's social media silence as a sign that the project was still advancing behind the scenes and being organized rather than a reduction in activities. However, the lack of public updates has left followers uncertain about the current direction of the project.
Shiba Inu's chief ambassador, Shytoshi Kusama, remained silent on social media, which triggered speculation about the next step of the project and continued to ferment the mystery surrounding his true identity.
