Shiba Inu's destruction rate soared by 2842% in 24 hours, and Shibarium activity continues to grow.
According to Mazrael, Shiba Inu's second-tier blockchain, Shibarium, has remained relatively low-key, its importance in the entire ecosystem is expanding. Despite the relatively flat level of trading activity, Shibarium still plays a key role in the project's long-term supply strategy.
Shibarium's ongoing SHIB destruction mechanism
Mazrael emphasized that Shibarium maintains a stable SHIB token destruction rate through ShibTorch. ShibTorch is an automated portal that converts transaction base fees charged in BONE into SHIB, and these tokens are then permanently removed from circulation, thereby reducing supply and potentially supporting the value of SHIB by controlling inflation.
In recent weeks, hundreds of millions of SHIBs have been destroyed through ShibTorch, despite the relatively low-key operating status of the platform. Mazrael commented that activities do not need to be highly visible to have a substantial impact on ecosystems. "Although there's not much trading noise, the destruction of hundreds of millions of SHIBs through ShibTorch in the past few weeks shows that you can continue to operate without being noisy," he said.
Shibarium is a second-level blockchain designed to increase the scalability of the Shiba Inu ecosystem and reduce transaction costs. The network uses BONE as a native fuel token, not only to power transactions, but also to automate the SHIB destruction process.
Small Dictionary: ShibTorch is an automated destruction portal on Shibarium that permanently removes SHIB tokens from circulation by converting BONE transaction fees into SHIB and sending them to an unrecoverable "dead wallet."
Surge in destruction rates and growth in holders
According to data from the Shibburn platform, Shiba Inu has observed a sharp increase in destruction activities in the past day. The SHIB destruction rate soared by 2842% in 24 hours, and a total of 113.63 million SHIB tokens were sent to dead wallets and permanently withdrawn from circulation.
Looking at a longer time horizon, a total of 147.05 million SHIBs were destroyed in the past seven days, a 579% increase in the weekly destruction rate. These large-scale demolitions highlight a new round of efforts by community and ecosystem mechanisms to actively manage the total supply of SHIB.
The latest destruction activity represents one of the largest single-day reductions in the circulating supply of SHIB in the past few weeks. This trend is supported by the continued and stable participation of the Shiba Inu community.
SHIB holders grow steadily
With the increase in destruction rates, Shiba Inu's on-chain holder base continues to expand. SHIB X account data from Etherscan shows that 98 new SHIB holders have joined in the past 24 hours alone. As of August, the number of holders has increased by 728; and since the beginning of 2026, another 130,282 wallets have received SHIB, bringing the total number of holders to 1,678,912.
The steady growth ofholders highlights the growing interest in the Shiba Inu ecosystem and the continued support of the community.
