SHIB's regulatory breakthrough in Japan: Nomura Digital Subsidiary was approved, SHIB was selected as licensed currency

Shiba Inu Coin (SHIB) has made an important progress in Japan, one of the most regulated cryptocurrency markets in Asia. Laser Digital Japan, the digital subsidiary of large investment holding company Nomura Holdings, has received approval from Japan's Financial Services Agency (FSA) to provide digital asset services and lists SHIB as one of only six cryptocurrencies that can be traded on its new platform.

Regulatory milestone for Laser Digital Japan

The Financial Services Agency of Japan officially registered Laser Digital Japan on August 21, marking the first time in four years that the agency has issued a new cryptocurrency exchange license. The approval is significant because Japan implements one of the most stringent regulatory standards for cryptocurrency platforms in the world. Companies must demonstrate strong compliance capabilities and operational transparency to meet licensing requirements.

Laser Digital Japan will launch the platform in only six regulated currencies, including Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Ripple (XRP), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Litecoin (LTC) and Shiba Inu (SHIB). The inclusion of SHIB in this conservative currency choice highlights the significance of its recognition along with mainstream cryptocurrencies.

Laser Digital Japan is positioned as a service provider for institutional customers and will initially provide wholesale liquidity services to domestic cryptocurrency platforms. In the subsequent stage, the platform plans to extend trading rights to companies and investment funds.

(Note: Laser Digital Japan is a digital asset subsidiary of Nomura Holdings, focusing on digital asset trading services and institutional cryptocurrency infrastructure in the Japanese market.)

Institutions and retail users promote the development of SHIB

The approval of SHIB is partly due to its inclusion in the Japan Virtual Currency Exchange Industry Association (JVCEA)"Green List." The list simplifies the review process for tokens and allows local exchanges to list these assets through a rapid registration process.

Earlier this year, SHIB's momentum in the retail market accelerated. Japanese e-commerce giant Rakuten introduced token trading into its ecosystem, enabling 44 million registered users and 5 million merchant partners to access digital assets. Lotte further increased user engagement through large-scale token giveaways and the launch of physical SHIB themed products. [TAG

Meanwhile, popular second-hand trading platform Mercari supports SHIB trading through its subsidiary Mercoin for its 24 million active users. This allows sellers to convert the proceeds of the transaction directly into SHIB. As a result, 4 million new cryptocurrency accounts were added, and 85% of the new users had never been exposed to digital assets before.

Specific data are as follows: Rakuten has 44 million users and 5 million merchants, providing token transactions, gifts and physical goods;Mercari (through Mercoin) has 24 million active users, supports direct conversion of second-hand transaction proceeds into SHIB, and brings 4 million new encryption accounts.

Shiba Inu's official X account views the approval from the Financial Services Agency of Japan as an important milestone for the token in the Japanese market. This development is expected to enhance the reputation and application of SHIB in institutional finance and the national retail market.

Unlike traditional local retail exchanges, Laser Digital Japan is designed to serve institutional capital. The inclusion of SHIB on the platform marks the transformation of the token into a regulated financial product in its country of origin.
