Senator Elizabeth Warren asks Trump to disclose details of his cryptocurrency investments in advance
Senator Elizabeth Warren in the U.S. Congress, who has outspoken links to digital assets and illegal activities, has called on President Donald Trump to proactively disclose more information about his cryptocurrency investments before a legal deadline.
In a letter on Thursday, Warren asked Trump to voluntarily file a financial disclosure report on his cryptocurrency-related income between January 1 and July 15. Previously, Trump's 2025 financial disclosures showed that he earned $1.4 billion in 2025 through cryptocurrency-related businesses, including his personal memin "Official Trump" and his family business "World Free Finance".
Warren said: "Your financial disclosures raise a key question: Whether it is appropriate for the president, vice president, senior administration officials, members of Congress and their families to profit from the cryptocurrency industry at a time when the U.S. Senate is debating crypto market structure legislation that could increase the value of your cryptocurrency holdings."

Trump's 2025 financial disclosures were filed on June 30, requested by the U.S. Office of Government Ethics to prevent conflicts of interest among elected officials. Warren pointed out that the president would not have to submit his 2026 annual report before May 2027, but she called on Trump to voluntarily submit it before July 23 because the Senate is considering a crypto market structure bill, the Digital Asset Markets Clarification Act.
Warren added: "Without adequate guardrails,[the bill]It will exacerbate the president's serious conflicts of interest and almost certainly push up the value of his and his family's cryptocurrency holdings."
Cointelegraph contacted the White House and Warren's office for comment, but there was no immediate response. In an interview on July 2, Trump said that it was "not illegal" and "nothing inappropriate" as president to profit from his cryptocurrency investments.
According to Senate Majority Leader John Thune, the Senate will vote on the encryption bill before it recess in August. However, many Democrats have publicly said they would not support any legislation without clear ethics clauses, with some citing Trump's potential conflicts of interest.
House Republicans hold hearings on the CLARITY bill, while the Senate debate simultaneously
On Friday, the House Financial Services Committee's Digital Assets, Financial Technology and Artificial Intelligence Subcommittee held a field hearing on the Digital Asset Markets Clarification Act in New York City. Although the bill was passed by the House in July 2025, it will be resubmitted to the House if it is passed by 60 votes in the Senate.
Rep. Farrench Hill, who chaired the committee's entire session and attended Friday's hearing, said the CLARITY bill has been a "bipartisan priority" in Congress. However, no Democratic representative appeared to be present at the hearing. Cointelegraph contacted Democratic members on the committee seeking comment, but there was no immediate response.
