FollowingOn Thursday, one or more hackers hacked into Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev's X account and posted a post promoting fake memecoin. The token is called "VLAD" and is based on the company, and the post also includes a seemingly malicious token contract address. The post received more than 175,000 views in less than 20 minutes, before users discovered it was a scam and warned others not to interact with the token.

As of press time, Robinhood has not confirmed the hack. Although the company has actively expanded its digital asset business, including tokenized stocks, cryptocurrency pledges, perpetual contracts and Robinhood Chain, it has never issued memecoin.
Onchain data provider Onchain Lens reported the breach. Robinhood Chain's blockchain browser has marked the contract address of the above token as fraud.
According to Nominis, hacking and fraud continue to plague the cryptocurrency industry, with attackers increasingly turning to phishing activities. Although the total value stolen through cryptocurrency scams has declined in recent months, this trend continues.
