Trading volume of Shiba Inu Coin (SHIB) soared and momentum dissipated after breakthrough
Trading activity of Shiba Inu Coin (SHIB) surged dramatically, with trading volume almost doubling 12 times, setting one of the strongest one-day gains in recent months. This strong breakthrough pushed the popular meme token out of its long-term consolidation range and regained the attention of speculative traders.
The surge in trading volume triggered a breakthrough, but the momentum quickly waned.
On the day of the rise, SHIB's trading volume reached a level not seen in months, indicating high buyer interest and a significant increase in trading activity. Price movements initially rose strongly, but the latest data showed that momentum quickly began to weaken.
A recent daily line showed that buying pressure has begun to weaken and SHIB has fallen from intraday highs. Market analysts point out that when a surge in trading volume coincides with sharp price fluctuations, it often signals a trend reversal or the culmination of a brief breakout-both of which are closely watched by traders to judge the future direction.
SHIB is unable to hold on to its just-recovered price, marking that it has entered a critical stage, and the pressure of profit-taking may exceed new buying demand.
The key technical level currently receiving much attention is the 100-day exponential moving average (EMA), which is at US$0.0000500. SHIB has recently broken through this long-term resistance level, making it an important short-term support level. Even if momentum weakens, maintaining prices above that level is seen as key to the sustainability of the current breakthrough.
Resistance level and reversal signal
Market attention has also turned to the 200-day EMA, which is close to US$0.0000600 and currently serves as the main macro resistance. In the past, SHIB's attempts to rebound in a broader downtrend have been blocked at this moving average many times. A firm closing above this moving average could mark the first structural bullish reversal in the SHIB since the beginning of the year and could attract more momentum traders.
At the same time, if the SHIB falls below US$0.0000445-the area where short-term moving averages have recently provided support-downside risks are expected to increase significantly. A break below that range would erase most recent technical progress and increase the possibility that the rise was driven more by short covering rather than a sustained shift in spot demand.
RSI enters overbought territory, increasing uncertainty
Technical indicators such as the Relative Strength Index (RSI) also reflect the fragility of the current pattern. For the first time in months, the RSI of SHIB rose above 70, entering overbought territory. Experts often interpret this as a warning sign: while the sharp rise may not immediately reverse, the asset may face a cooling off period-a common situation when explosive rises are accompanied by abnormally high volume.
Despite these warning signs, the technical side of the SHIB is still stronger than before the rally. However, most of the "easy" upside space appears to be over, and traders are closely watching how prices interact with key support and resistance levels in the coming days.
The focus remains on price movements near the US$0.0000500 support level. Market participants are watching whether buyers can muster enough strength to challenge the 200th EMA (approximately US$0.0000600), or whether the breakthrough fails and turns into another brief rebound attempt.
