World Gold Council CEO says "Bitcoin will go to zero", CZ responds

David Tate, CEO of the World Gold Council, made radical remarks about the cryptocurrency world when he appeared as a guest on David Lin's show. Tait said his personal view of Bitcoin is that "it will go to zero" and criticized the major cryptocurrency's high correlation with risky assets.

Still, Tate provided market advice to investors and emphasized the importance of portfolio diversification: "My opinion is purely personal instinct. However, people with gold in their portfolios should also hold Bitcoin, and people who hold Bitcoin must allocate gold. Because these two assets can balance each other in times of crisis."

The CEO of the World Gold Council pointed out that the rise in gold prices is due to huge public debt rather than temporary factors such as war, interest rates or tariffs. He particularly emphasized the U.S. debt burden, which has reached US$39 trillion.

In an interview with David Lin at the Consensus Conference Miami Station, an important event in the cryptocurrency and financial world, Tate was asked,"How do you view Bitcoin being called 'digital gold'?" To this question, he responded without hesitation: "I personally think that the value of Bitcoin will return to zero." He argued that the forecast was not based on an anti-gold stance and acknowledged that under current market conditions, it may be logical for investors to hold both gold and bitcoin as risk-balancing tools.

However, based on his own market experience and intuition, he expressed his unbelief in Bitcoin's long-term sustainability: "Bitcoin may be running and working right now, but my intuition and personal feeling is that in the long run, it will be unsustainable."

Binance founder CZ expressed his views on the World Gold Council CEO's remarks that Bitcoin's value will be reduced to zero. CZ said many people have made wrong judgments about cryptocurrencies in the past, but understanding this area takes time, adding that he is not 100% sure he is right, since everyone makes mistakes after all.
