Tudor Investment, the macro hedge fund of billionaire investor Paul Tudor Jones, increased its position in BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF (Nasdaq: IBIT) last quarter after a year of selling.
BlackRock's IBIT was launched in January 2024. It is the largest spot Bitcoin ETF in the United States and the most well-known financial instrument for Bitcoin exposure on Wall Street.
According to a 13F filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on August 14, as of June 30, the fund held 688,529 IBIT shares worth approximately US$22.9 million.
The fund cut its reported IBIT-related call options from 998,000 underlying stocks to 148,000 shares, a drop of approximately 85%, but left its put option position unchanged.
The macro fund held 579,083 IBIT shares at the end of March and 688,529 shares at the end of June, thus increasing its holdings of 109,446 IBIT shares.
At its peak at the end of 2024, the fund held more than 8 million IBIT shares, valued at US$427 million at the time.
Billionaire investor Paul Tudor Jones first supported Bitcoin in May 2020, revealing that he invested 1% to 2% of his assets in the leading cryptocurrency.
He once called Bitcoin the "unquestionably best inflation hedge" and believed that every portfolio should be allocated with Bitcoin, gold and stocks.
BTC/USD
